My husband's greencard expired in May and we just realized it. We had a baby in January and our lives have been quite hectic since. Once we figured out that it expired we immediately sent it in, but it was returned and we are required to give an explanation for our tardiness. I need to know if anyone has gone through this before and what an acceptable reason is.
Serious responses only, please.
Answer:
How about giving them the truth?
I would think the truth should do it. I am sure this has happened before to other people. You did the right thing in sending it in as soon as you realized you had not. Best of luck.
Truth is good. They are just making you jump through the hoops. Do as they ask and apologize for your oversight. A simple apology to a public servant never goes wrong.
Sounds like you have an acceptable reason. Be honest, and don't worry.
