A question about solving the illegalI immagration problem,?

I have a idea, its a idea based in reality not Bullsh!t,

think about it and let me know what you think,

If we used the us military to guard the boarders, using about half of the forces that are deployed in Iraq (once the farceful conflict is over) to do the job,

Applying the same amount of cash to fund the operations, and giving every unit a rotation schedule to be deployed there at least once a year,

giving orders to prevent illegal entry in to the country at all cost up to and including authorized force(this is common by the way before someone goes all "but they are people too")

why wouldnt this work better than what is being done, (catch and release, catch and deport, or just dont catch at all)

please dont think that I am against immigration, Im not, There is a right way to do things, and I can see no clear reason why they shouldnt be done that way,

hey its just an Idea(and I mean all boarders Not just the southern one)

Answer:
The National Guard two weeks a year and weekends could also be spent securing the border, and catching illegal aliens.
All resources available should be used. Legal immigration should not be harmed by the presence of illegal aliens, tying up the system, burdening courts, and taking jobs illegally.
Neither should taxpayers who are footing the bills. I'd much rather pay more to see a secure border and a halt to illegal aliens, than see my tax dollars being squandered on free health care, education and legal defense for them among the other benefits they receive.

Since we have the USCG to patrol our coastline, how about a USBG..United States Border Guard with full support capabilities.
I have what I think is a better idea.

Any time any illegal is convicted of anything, including Guilty pleas, and including traffic violations, ALL of their property in the US is forfeited (bank accounts, furniture, cars, everything) and they get deported, unless the Prosecutor or Judge wants to keep them while they serve a sentence, after which they still get deported.

How's that for simple.
That might be a viable resort, but it probably shouldn't be the next thing we try. Targetting enforcement on the illicit employers who exploit illegals would probably be more effective - for one thing, it would be effective against all illegals, not just those entering through our southern border.
sounds good, and if they try going through more dangerous routes and end up dead that's their own fault.

And we should keep up the ICE raids and prosecuting the US traitors that hire illegals over citizens.
easeir, dont crack down on illegals only, lay big fines on employers who hier them to work. no work and they wont come. also dont give illegals any benefits like welfare and dont put them in prison deport them!
Along with shutting the border we have to take care of the flood inside the border. Crack down on the criminal employers to dry up the job market and the illegal alien criminals will self-deport!
Great questions, and great answers. I am going to add to it, because I think your suggestion is valid.
First, put an ICE officer in every hospital around. Use the fines from the big companies who hire illegals to pay for it. ID is checked for validity at the hospital. Then it is their choice to go to get treatment and be deported or not get treatment.
Second, put an ICE officer in every welfare department in the country. Check validity of ID before any benefits are given out. They can choose to be deported or not get benefits.
Third, bring in military and ICE to every demonstration where Americans are being told "go back to Europe racist whites", block all way out with the force military uses in Iraq, then have ICE check the validity of every person there.
No ID in any of these situations? Over the fence you go.
That might help the illegal immigration problem, but what about fighting the terrorist? Are we going to spread our Military thin by making them into border guards? We already have laws, funding and people trained to stop illegals. We just dont enforce the laws. Its not a bad thought though, but our military is not a bunch of border guards. You state that your idea is not based on BS, but then in the next sentence call the war against Islamic terrorist a farceful conflict. Which is worse, getting blown away by a nut that hates you more than he loves himself, or some illegal takeing your job at taco bell.
ok, but that still leaves Iraq and the GWOT (global war on terror). That will not go away by wishes alone. We have to continue to fight this battle.
Well we already have a military on the borders, it is called Border Patrol, and yes start shooting the bastards. OK, they are people also, then quite coming across whatever border, and then you won't get shot. Really simple!!! It is so simple, that is why our freak of nature government won't do it. Why have the military in Iraq, they are even allowed to do what they are trained to do. At least not without grave repercussions. Let the Border Patrol do what they are trained to do. All these conflicts would be solved a lot faster. Untie their hands. No we have to have Rules of Engagement, but the enemy sure doesn't have to play by the rules, because they have no rules, call it a WAR on immigration if you have to. Even then their hands would be tied. Look at Iraq, terrorists have no rules. Why should we? 9/11 what happened to the terrorists rules, WWII, again no rules, piss on the rules and get the job done! A lot less lives would be lost!
First problem -- we can't use the US military to guard borders, other than purely as observers, because federal law (since the 1860s) prohibits the US military from acting as police or law enforcement.

Second problem -- the US military is not trained to handle law enforcement, even if they were legally allowed to. What you're talking about would require significant retraining, which would cost about as much as hiring new law enforcement folks.

Third problem -- using the US military in this role prevents them from being able to deploy rapidly to meet threats, which is the role and purpose of the military.

Fourth problem -- the US military is massively overextended right now, and doesn't have the resources to take on a new large scale assignment.

It's easier, and less legally messy, to hire new law enforcement personnel..
I know you meant borders as boarders are those who live in your home and pay boarding fees. And I know you meant immigration problems, but military action is not allowed. As for them being people, too, well maybe but they want to come into our homeland illegally and I think they should have a much stronger deterrent than catch and release. Catch and deport a bit better. But shoot to halt and go back the first time, after that it's going to have to be shoot to kill as we have terrorist threats to think about also. I say train our border patrol to mean business when they're guarding our borders. They are guarding the future of our nation and we have too many illegals to feed that act like boarders who never pay their fees as it is!
