Isn't the whole threat and idea behind going on a hunger strike was that you either achieved your goal or became a martyr to the cause?

Freedom of speech. He is allowed to express his opinion. He is not physically harming anyone.
Of course they want him fired, heaven forbid anyone express an opinion. Of course, they get to express theirs.

We are expected not to express opinions in our own country about what is happening here. Taking away a persons job is a good punishment and they will push to make it happen.
Unless a person has anorexia, which is a condition they are not in control of, a person has the right to stop eating.
They don't however have the right to enter this country illegally and then try to get people fired for not liking it.

I totally agree with Dr. Savage I think anything he says is the gospel truth.
I may not like him, but he has a point. They're fasting to draw attention to themselves, and the whole point of fasting is to put yourself in jeopardy. He doesn't support their goal, and so of course he hopes their hunger strike falls on deaf ears.
I gather that the "hunger strike" was limited, and that the students had no intention of actually placing themselves in peril.

I'm sick of people expressing the freedom of speech and being punished. They have the freedom to fast and we have the freedom to express our feelings about it.

when will Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson apoligize for convicting the Duke lacrosse players before knowing the facts? When will the Bush administration build a wall to keep out illegal mexicans from ruining our country? I agree with Savage if they are that serious about being a martyr then let them strave and in saying that he know none of them had the guts to go without food for more than an hour.

I concur: the world will be a better place after they've died of starvation. I just hope they have the moral courage to take it that far.
And, I aplaud them for choosing starvation over suicide bombing or other forms of martyrdom that target or even merely risk the lives of others.

Michael Savage is very extreme in his views but he has every right to express them. The Dream Act is a bunch of BS. Anyone who doesn't agree with the opinion of a radio host has the right to change the channel and not listen to it.
I think those little girls need to put their training panties back on and go to some country that has open border and hands college scholarships to people who violate their immigration laws.
Those countries probably don't enjoy free speech like America either, perhaps they will feel more at home there.

I think they have the right to fast and the right to call for Savage's firing, but he has the right to say what he wants.
I am not sure what the thought process was for these students but I don't think it was a wise move to demand someone using free speech be fired and an apology from radio, unlike TV it is much less politically correct. I doubt they will get an apology and the radio personality will have days if not weeks of fuel for his show not to mention the 350 other stations. Not a wise move at all... Now they are at the mercy of a Michael Savage and even though I do not know of him, by reading his earlier comments I can tell he is not what one would call forgiving.
I've never listened to Michael Savage & wouldn't know his name if not for this contraversy. I suspect many of those fasting need to lose weight anyway & if a person can't operate the dial on a radio, they shouldn't own one.
I disagree with many from both the left & right, but will defend their right to express their opinion to the death, regardless of how ill founded & stupid that opinion may be.
