When should I file I-751?
Answer:
NO VACANCY!We just imported 20 mil. 3rd worlders.
File I-751 before it expires.
This is what I did this year, mine expires in June and I filed in March, I sent in all the paperwork and received notice after
a month to get my fingerprints taken.
The new permanent green card takes a long time, so ask Immigration to stamp your passport until you get the new card. This is what I did.
Yesss... 90 days. If you fail to file within this time, immigration court proceedings could be brought against you. Once you file the form, you will receive a receipt extending your current status and card for up to one more year. After 1 year of pending, your status will then be changed to one without conditions and you will receive a new card valid for ten years.
Sometimes it takes less than 1 year to receive the new card, depending on the location and how busy the office is that is processing your case.
The I-751 should be file 90 days before the second anniversary of your card. your I-551 (green card) should of be valid for 2 years 24 months. so you should file an I-751 on your 21 month or after, but not before to remove your conditional status.
You will received a letter from CIS telling you that your I-551 has been extended for one year or until you received your new I-551. if you leave the U.S. make sure you have both your expired I-551 and the letter from CIS.
