Question about Naturalization?

I'm planning on summiting my Application for Naturalization (US, Oregon), I know there is suppose to be a test of some sort, lets say I failed this test, will I have to pay for the fees again to retake the test or reapply? Oh and does anyone know what the test is like?

Thanks

My wife just went throught this process.

The test can be as easy or as hard as the examiner wants to make it. I would suggest you study for the worst and hope for the best.

You can get a list of sample questions which, at least in the past, covers pretty much everything you needed to know. If you knew those questions, you would pass for sure. However, there were several hundred of them and the testor would select relatively few. Therein lies my comment about "as easy or as hard" as they wish. It also suggests that it would never be wise to piss off the examiner since they are human, too.

As I recall, you have several chances to pass the test. If you fail the first time there is a fee for retaking the test but it is nothing that will break the bank.

The test, in recent years, has been generally factual and I would not consider it difficult (unless you have an English problem, then everything is difficult). However, I have read that they are changing the test to make it less factual and more conceptual. That is, concentratiing less on "what" and more on "why" to ensure the applicant can grasp the essential ideas of how the system works and the reasons for it.

I don't know if the test has already been changed or if it is still in the future.

Good luck. If history is a guide, you will worry desperately about it before and laugh at yourself for worrying aftterwards.
you have to take civics, history, and English grammar tests.
Yes, you have to pay for processing each time. Here are some study materials -- good luck!

Know English, know our Constitution, know our history, consult others, I'm surprised they've not given you the best preparation.
Yes, of course you'll have to pay again.
