I call my Congressman all the time and bark at the phone. I say things like "What the HELL is wrong with you??!!"

Ya.....all the time. My particular congressman is against amnesty but he's a rare find in this state. His wife is an immigrant who went about things the legal way.

Do you think that we should round everyone who looks like they might be Mexican onto a bus and send them South? Maybe we should create a standardized American test, and eject everyone who doesn't pass it from our glorious nation. Maybe we should build a gigantic, impenetrable fence complete with barbed-wire and mines and machine-gunners to protect us from those dirty Mexicans. What a great country this would be! Then all of us white, English-speaking Americans can go back to celebrating freedom and individuality, and brag about how different we are from the Chinese and the Nazis. Thank you for your wisdom! Well, what does "work" mean? If by closing off the borders and deporting all illegal immigrants you expect to solve the problem, then you are WAY off reality. They will find ways to get in and their return will create an even larger problem in their home countries; therefore, creating a way larger wave of immigrants (who are not necessarily going to be legal). You think of quick ways to resolve the problem, but not about the consequences of such "solutions."

The majority of Americans agree with you on this! No amnesty or quick path to citizenship for illegal immigrants EVER AGAIN! Has not worked in the past, and won't work in the future. Deport ALL illegal immigrants and close down the borders to illegal traffic. Rewarding illegal behavior only encourages more of the same. Enforce all immigration laws BY THE BOOK. Get rid of the anchor baby loophole, deny ALL social benefits to illegal immigrants, including education, medical (other than emergency care only for life and death cases and deport as soon as stable), deny social assistance benefits to them, and pursue employers of illegals with maximum penalties every time. Yes, it IS possible to remove ALL illegal immigrants over a period of time, say 5 years. If all these things were done, most would leave on their own and others would not bother coming, in the first place.
