Yes, Mexico is a SH!T hole of a country. My firm had a company vacation done there. The resort was cool. However, they warned us not to go outside of the tourist zone. Here is sad story to go w/ it. One of the people from accounting got hurt. She slipped and fell in the bathroom. The doctors made her pay in advance before they were willing to treat her. The bill came to thousands of dollars and she needed someone to wire the money down to pay for it. I guess the Mexican medical system does not take American Express. Plus, the hotel wouldn't let her leave to get treatment until the room was paid for! Great country :P
Mexico is actually rich in resources. It has a ton of oil. The government is sucks down there. Get rid of the government and "bad elements." Then, you'll have a decent country,

I went to Mexico, it is a beautiful country, but it lacks so much! I had to take a bath in a bucket for a week because there was no running water. The meat is sold out in the open market with flies licking it. Eww eww eww! The roads are treacherous because there are no speed limits and the taxi I took was doing 90 miles per hour! YIKES!! I loved the beauty, but I prefer the USA and all its luxuries...
