Do you think if Americans took the jobs that the immigrants are taking that we'd have such a big immigration..

problem?

Answer:
Exactly! We need to get rid of welfare and give Americans a choice....work or starve.
Thats not the problem, the problem is the average human will rather have any other job than farming or what ever is that mexicans mainly do.
Jane Fonda should dialogue with the suicide bombers.
If Americans were willing to be electricians for 9 dollars an hour illegals would do it for 7 an hour. They are not just cutting grass. many are welders, plumbers, air/condition repair etc.
I believe that would lessen the numbers to some degree. Some, though illegal, still come over for the free government stuff. But most come for the work WE think are too good to do.
Americans would take the jobs if the damned Mexicans weren't working for less, and no benefits. Last month the Wall Street Journal ran an article about a chicken processing plant down south somewhere (I forget the state) where INS came in and busted 700 illegals. Guess who the biggest beneficiaries were? The local black community. First thing the company did was raise wages by $1 an hour across the board, so some top jobs paid $8 or $9 an hour. Then they hired local blacks to replace the Mexicans, so the local economy was far better off. Yes, illegals depress wages, and yes, they take jobs from American citizens. End of argument!
there is not a better life than farming,,,it just dont pay good unless you are one of the big boys,,,,but before the,,,,, immigrants come here ,,a lot of Americans did the work
Possibly. But we know that the typical American is not going to do that work. They would rather get on food stamps or some kind of program. We are agricultural around here. At that time of year the farmers can not find people to work, so they hire the illegals that will work. Work needs to be done and the typical American does not want these jobs.....
I think anybody wants a job with a future. These jobs illegals do will not provide a solid future and at some point. When anyone is such jobs may be doing well now. 20 years from now. Who will help them, when they are replaced by younger workers
No, the only way to solve the problem is to crack down on those companies that hire illegal immigrants.
Prior to 1965 when the disastrous Immigration Bill was passed, there was very little immigration. In fact, between 1925 and 1965, there was even a period of net emigration out of the United States. During this time, our grass was getting cut, our meat was being packed, our children were being watched and our houses were being cleaned. The idea that somehow we suddenly can't run a country without an unlimited supply of foreigners is absurd.

Those in favor of foreign labor are corporations who are addicted to cheap labor. They are the ones who are benefiting. But their benefit comes at the American tax payer's expense when you consider that the American tax payer is virtually subsidizing the labor costs of the greedy corporations by supplying the illegal foreign workers and their families with welfare, free education, free medical, WICs, housing assistance, etc. -- something the corporations won't do.

Americans won't allow themselves to be exploited like illegals do, but they WILL do the work that illegals do for fair compensation and benefits. If Americans did the work that illegals do at higher pay, would that benefit the consumer? You bet it would in the long run. But many Americans who do not care about America's future are consumers who favor the idea of exploiting illegal workers because it keeps commodity and service prices down in the short term.
Democrats let those people come here and take our jobs.
yes, poorer people will always do jobs for less money its a fact. some people are so eager for any income that they will take any income level. did yuo know doctors and surgeons from other countries quit their jobs there to come here and be a nurse, making 3 to 4 times as much compared to their jobs in their home countries. if the roles were reversed and you needed a job but here you could not find one, but in mexico you could find a job the obvious choice is to take work when and where you can find it.
N0 we would not have such a immigration problem. But we would
have to pay people better. That's why immigrants come here
because of the pay they get. But it wouldn't pay Americans to
do the work, because they could live here.
Illegals aren't taking none of our jobs. That's just an excuse for the Americans who are too lazy to get a job, they get on welfare and say an illegal took their job.
Americans used to perform the jobs (low educated) that the illegal invaders now hold. We have always performed them. However, due to the insolence of said invaders and the fact that they are willing to come and work for less than minimum wage, businesses hire them for low skill jobs for next to nothing.

These people are taking whatever they can because they know our politicians won't allow our own laws to be enforced. If you knew you could work and pay no taxes, have free health-care, free education, not be held accountable for killing or raping or robbing someone, wouldn't you go there.
the problem lie's with every body want's to pay cheap labor . but gripe about the work didn't get done right . so they pay for the job to be done again . people will pay for two mexican laborer's then one american labor . it's the american way ? heath care is so high for insurance that the company's would hire illegal's to do the job's .and getter done with much fuss !! GETTER DONE
It's not just the jobs. It's the fact that we are supporting 20 million people. They are sponging off the taxpayer! They steal identities!
Wages have dropped hugely and those jobs no longer support a family in an American lifestyle - without recourse to foodstamps for kids etc. Before mass illegal immigration, those jobs paid a living wage. One reason for immigration limits is that too many people runs down our wages. If the wages go back up, Americans will take the jobs again.
We can't take jobs that we are not allowed to have. If a business wants to hire illegals specifically they will regardless of how many citizens apply for these jobs. I've seen this happening over and over in my town for about the last twenty years. You can walk into the employment offices of most any factory and you won't even make it to the desk before they yell out "We are not hiring". And when you do see the workers coming and going they are almost all hispanics who do not speak English. Some of our businesses have been sued by citizens over their hiring and pay practices, and it has become public knowlege that one of our largest businesses has sent people to the border to bring back workers (and I don't live in a border state!). These jobs that used to pay $12-20 dollars an hour now start workers at $6-7, and top pay often is at $10.
Probably would still have it because companies will pay those who work for less, that is how businesses operate. To any company of any size, the goal is to reduce expenses. Salary and wages are expenses.
No, that is the problem, Americans are TOO LAZY to work for low wage jobs , and we'd rather live on welfare and social security. IF we took the jobs and didn't let immigrants do them, they'd have no reason to come here.

I find the argument "no one else will do those jobs" amusing. Who did those jobs before the illegals came flooding across the border?

Ah...Americans did those jobs.

Here's the problem. Illegals are willing to do the job for less money because 1) their children's education, health care, dental care, food and housing are covered. 2) they are often paid under the table so they don't have to pay any taxes and 3) they are earning more here than they would in Mexico.

So, the companies wind up making more of a profit, the illegals have jobs and the middle class foots the entire bill. Not only do middle class American citizens pay exactly the same or more for the goods and services, but they also pay more in taxes.

They also pay more at the ER, more at the dentist and more just about everywhere they go to cover the cost of the illegals.

And it's not just unskilled, low-paying jobs that illegals are taking.
According to the immigration stats page, 9,797,371 skilled jobs have been stolen from Americans by illegal immigrants.

I believe if the laws on the books were actually enforced, we wouldn't have a problem with illegals. If we fined the people who hire and house illegals and refuted the idea of "anchor babies" we'd reduce this problem enormously.
No, they would come even if there were no jobs
