Does a baby automatically become a citizen of both its parents countries when born? (Ireland & United States)?

Me and my fiance wish to concieve a baby in due time. She resides in Ireland, And I from the United States. If the baby is born in Ireland they no doubt become an irish citizen. But since the baby is indisputably the child of a US citizen would it be eligible for citizenship? Or would it become a citizen of Americas and Ireland?

Answer:
If you are married at the time of the birth your child will have dual citizenship, Irish and US, no matter which country he/she is born in.
See the first site for details of US citizenship, the second for Irish and the third site about dual citizenship.

"A child born outside the US to parents who are married at the time of the birth will be a US citizen if either of the two following situations obtains. First, if both of his parents are US citizens and at the time of birth at least one of them previously resided in the US for any period of time. Second, a child born on or after 14 November 1986, if only one of his parents is a citizen at the time of birth, will be a US citizen if his or her US citizen parent was physically present in the US, legally or illegally, for at least five years before the child’s birth; at least two years of that time must have been after the age of 14. "

"If either of your parents was an Irish citizen at the time of your birth, then you are automatically an Irish citizen, irrespective of your place of birth "
no it has to be born here
it would be eligible for dual citizenship but i dont think that it is automatic. whereever the baby is born will be its main citizenship then u or the baby can apply for dual citizenship when it gets older
No, only a citizen of the country it's born in
Wherever the baby is born, that is where it is a citizen. even if the mother or father is from a different country, its only a citizen of where it is born. so if the baby is born in ireland it will be a citizen of ireland.
The baby is automatically a citizen from which country he/she was born in.
it should be no problems for your baby to became americans citizen i think is more hard to get the irish citizenship. you should have your baby in irenland and them go back to the US and apply and dont pay attention to these racism people that the only thing they know is to talk trash. please ask a lawyer he will explain you very well dont came to yahoo because they are only minuteman answers so ask a lawyer and dont follow these answers because they are stupid. you are american and your son is american does not mather where he born you can still apply. look i am a cuban refugee and they told me many times who you want to claim and i said my mom and they said yes we will and in 2 years my mom will be here but these a harder thing because is not the US who makes trouble is cuba.
That baby will have to go through due citizenship process in order to become an American citizen. He or she is only an automatic citizen if born on US soil. Being born of an American while in another country has no bearing on USA citizenship. The baby will be an Irish citizen with an American father.
IF your wife is an Irish citizen at the time of the birth of your child in Ireland, then the child can claim Irish citizenship. But if she is just a permanet resident at the time of birth of your child, then your child cannot claim Irish citizenship. To claim US citizenship for your child, you would have to report its birth to the nearest US Embassy in Ireland.

The birth of a child abroad to U.S. citizen parent(s) should be reported as soon as possible to the nearest American consular office for the purpose of establishing an official record of the child’s claim to U.S. citizenship at birth. The official record is in the form of a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America. This document, referred to as the Consular Report of Birth or FS-240, is considered a basic United States citizenship document. An original FS-240 is furnished to the parent(s) at the time the registration is approved.**
For the United States, any child of an US citizen is a citizen of the United States. If they are born in another country, they are not natural born citizens and can never be president. What in the world happened to civic classes?
