by catering to illegal immigrants?

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Two days after a major immigration overhaul plan died in the Senate, Democratic presidential candidates vowed if elected to push for legislation that would protect workers and give unlawful immigrants a path to citizenship.

Answer:
He's going for minority people's votes. He wants to warm up to the Hispanic voters. It's a strategy. No surprise.
Why would Friends of Dreaming imagine that he is in any way qualified to speak on the topic of immigration, is what I want to know.
Vote with this question in mind...
Okay, here goes, but don't call me a nut until you consider what I say. He isn't jeopardizing anything, because elections can easily be rigged. I often think our presidents are selected for us, only who would suspect since we are allowed to vote?
That is why they say he does not have the experience.
no jeopardy there! there are a slew of bleeding hearts out there who will vote for him just to have the poor little illegals get a shot a being citizens. NOT for one moment realizing that the more folks in this country who will work for less, the less the marketplace will offer to pay them. simple economics! and for Obama, and the Dems, more slave labor voters.
I think it's for the same reason some of the proponents of the failed amnesty bill (and that's what it was, in my opinion) were so vocal in their support: appealing to voters. Unfortunately, doing so is tantamount to turning your back on the majority of Americans who do not support amnesty for about 20 million people who have disrespected our country and entered illegally.

All the same, it's nice for me to know who *not* to vote for...
He's not "jeopardizing" anything, because a lot of his supporters also support the legislation. I personally see no reason for these people to continue to live and work in the U.S. without paying taxes; I have yet to figure out why anyone would think it was possible to send them back, so why not TAX them and let them pay their way like the rest of us?
Well he got over 30 mil from small contributions, just reported for the last quarter. His is a real grass roots campaign. So Hillary is "around" 10 mil less from less supporters. She best be afraid. She has Bill out there and still yet Obama out did them.
I don't like that either candidates passed on some co-ordinated effort to work toward Immigration reform. The word amnesty freaks people out. Both Democrats said we are working on this bi-partisan effort, applause and photo ops when in reality they dropped the bill flat. More flip flops.
When u have over 12 million people to deal with and laws from over 20 yrs not upheld we are partially to blame. Some of those Senators have been there longer and did nothing b4.
Blanket plans to fix a system broken may be all we can get. $5,000 payment (to whom?) and a return to native land? Who can afford that anyway? The bill was set to fail from the get go.
Meanwhile, Senators have two jobs and serve only one master. Not a constituent but an agenda to raise money and personal goals. Like the White House. Thank you.
When you have a population that is over 300 million, nothing will be perfect or make everyone happy but our elections are as good as it can be done right now. What gripes me about Obama is that there will be people who will vote for him just because he is black and Hilliary just because she is a woman. Any catering to illegal immigrants is pandering to the Latino vote. People must remember that after being elected, the President will have to lead America for 4 years. This is not American idol.
I'm not surprised. He's a Democrat.
He has not got the savvy to make a good president. He claimed that because he was tired he answered a question poorly. What if he's tired when it comes to national security? No thanks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't every 2008 Democratic Presidential Candidate in favor of giving unlawful (illegal) immigrants (aliens) a path to citizenship?
This is proof that he is out of touch with Americans. He is putting illegal aliens before Americans. Sad.
Ah, I love this debate.. Too many people haven't a clue what legal immigration entails. Immigration isn't what it once was. You don't just fill out a form and become a citizen, and the way legal immigration works hurts our economy too.
Did you know that to legally immigrate you have to either be immediate family of a citizen, have a special degree or work sponsor, or win a immigration lottery?
The ones allowed to legally immigrate are taking jobs from people who work hard and go to college. Typically, they are willing to take these graduate jobs at a lower rate to be able to immigrate. Many of our engineers and chemists are from other countries.
My other argument, is to look at the jobs most frequently held by illegal aliens. How many young white males between the ages of 19-29 are willing to work as a garbage collector? At a meat processing plant? In janitorial services?
I work in a warehouse and it is nearly impossible to keep help despite the fact we have decent benefits and a better then average pay rate. Americans do not want to do physical labor anymore. It is beneath them. We hire constantly. There is always an opening. Most of our new hires quit within the first week. The only ones that stay are the immigrants and women for some strange reason.
he'd be jeopardizing his run if he was a Republican..BUT he's a Democrat and my personal favorite
Obama Yo Mama!
It will have to happen no matter what (this path to citizenship). 12 million illegals aren't going anywhere, it's the truth and a fact. Can you get that through your head, No, you are too scared to face reality.

I agree with "spazzhatesantis"
He's not jeopardizing himself in my opinion. He's probably trying to stand out from the other candidates. But seriously, even though it's a problem, you have to sympathize for illegal immigrants a little. Can you imagine how screwed you'd be if you got deported?
