Greencard Status?

I've been in the US legally for 30 years. However, my greecard needs to be re issued on June 1, 2007. However, I did not file it until May 21, 2007. Does this mean in the meantime I am considered "illegal'? I know in other government agencies that as long as your filed prior to the due date you are ok...however, I don't know what the status is with Homeland Security now.

Answer:
It is irrelevant when you filed. You remain a permanent resident with or without the card. The card merely evidences your status.
I don't believe you'd be considered an illegal.
Did you receive your Notice of Action from USCIS indicating that they received your petition? If not, do a infopass immediately...however, chances are that you are just fine as long as they received the petition before expiration.
You are fine, you filed before the card expired. Did you get a notification back from the INS? I believe that you have 60 days to renew your card.
no, as long as you filed prior to the expiration date your ok. Believe me, I used to work at an immigration law firm, sometimes (if we forgot) we wouldn't file an H1B extension until the day before it expired. but this doesn't mean your illegal. INS has your papers, now you're waiting on them to send you a receipt.
