What are the economic benefits of the immigration plan? Are they hard criminals?
Economically speaking and as it relates to US security, why would you want them to stay in the shadows? Doesn't make any sense.. they are not going anywhere.. deportation is near impossible and would create huge gaps in our current economy.
Lets talk economics (I have a masters from Duke in finance)... lets do it simply.
12,500,000 Immigrants X $10,000 a piece..mmmm... that would be a $125,000,000,000 surplus to the economy... in addition, they would be required to finally pay for their taxes (those that are currently being paid under the table), contribute to the healthcare system (rather than us citizens currently paying for their 4%). INS wont be so saturated and now they can focus on the non-registered... (possibly security threats) People who use the money factor are clueless... we can't fill the lower paying jobs.. look up southern California (lots of illegals)... restaurant owners, hospitals, cleaning services, and farms are paying a premium to fill these "lower class" jobs... they still cant fill them... This is everywhere in the country.. do the research... Economically, it doesn't make sense..
Lets talk the criminal avenue... but they are illegal criminals...? they broke the law... give me a break.. have you ever stole anything when you were younger.. ever drove 46 in a 45 to get somewhere just a little quicker... ever cheated a little on your taxes... these are all crimes my friend... even speeding or cruising through a stop sign... this country is governed by over 29,000 federal laws, and on average in my state (NY) an additional 120,400 penal law codes (increases about a 900 per year)... not including vehicle and traffic law... Everyone bends the rules.. and commits a crime... time to time.. Many illegals come here for a chance for a better life... if you were in Mexico, living in poverty, wouldn't you at least try for the benefit of your family? Think big picture... there are enough punative damages in fines they would have to pay.. (to make it fair for those who came here the pain in the rear legal way) if they don't, seek them out deport them permanently. Use the surplus dollars to firm up the border... help the economy, and most importantly enforce the laws/borders moving forward..
Answer:
I believe you. I believe that you have a degree in economics because you make much more sense than all the republicans seeking elections in 2008 put together. They are fat liars who are trying to sing the immigrant hate song the Americans want to hear. 12 million illegal immigrants, add up their prolific offsprings and you have a population large than most nations. We can't deport these kind of numbers and by doing so, we would bankrupt the treasury. The argument that they have circumvented the road to US and freedom and that they have jumped the line ahead of others in waiting is baseless. The important issue here is that they are already here with us. We don't owe a penny to those assumed in waiting to migrate here. Period. This is a bad situation but finding solutions that works for the benefit of all - a win win situation is the role of good managers and great thinkers. The fact that these people are here and getting jobs is proof that someone wants and needs them. So let's get smart and make good use of them. Give residence status to all of them, (safe for those with felony records) charge them a huge fine and fee for it, and make sure they start paying taxes. Also put a clause that they cannot enjoy welfare benefits until they have been legal working residents for a period not less than five years and they should have proof of work by providing W2s. By doing this, the exchequer will add it's kitty from added number of tax payers, the home office will have a grip on whoever is here, and we can manage our borders with a less burden.
The only economic benefits to this goes to the employers that will hire these people at reduced wages. This is an AMNESTY program and not an immigration bill. These are people that ignored U.S. laws and entered this country illegally. If they want to do it right...go back to the country they came from and then do what's necessary to enter the country legally. I don't approve of MY country giving these law breakers an easy pass...no matter how much it costs them...because the cost to my country will be much greater.
are you saying we should make drug dealers pharmacists too....? same logic
Absolutely no advantage to America. Illegal aliens can easily be replaced by other foreign passport holders who apply legally through our Embassies abroad. We can even replace the school dropouts who can't speak English with English-speaking college graduates who would only be too happy to work in America without sponging on social welfare and breeding like cockroaches.
And seriously VOTE OUT those Senators who pander to lawbreakers. Their stand with lawbreakers is proof that they themselves are as guilty as the illegal aliens when it comes to lawbreaking temptations.
I have issue with ...your usage of the words "Lower class Jobs".In a country the richest and most prosperous in the world..there should be no room for poverty..yet poverty does exist. In the most Capitalistic Society on Earth...there should be no room for those with a Social mindset...as Americans have been and are being portrayed around the world...yet there are those who sincerely give a damn about the plight of their fellow men and women...even in America. But ..when politicians,..and other Elected officials..use reverse...logic and try to side-step ..the Judicial Process..as if they are above the Law...Americans will not allow...This is A Democracy...and in a Democracy Majority Rules. i hope this helps...he he sorry got a little over ...board
OK Duke boy, Masters in Finance. Obviously they taught you how to multiply. Real proud of you. Now do this math. The average illegal costs $17,000.00 per year, every year. You are proposing a one time fee of $10,000.00.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but that would equate to a $7,000.00 loss the first year and a $17,000.00 loss every year thereafter.
Now imagine the plethora of welfare benefits that they will immediately become eligible for once legalized. That drives the net loss even higher.
Now lets talk paying taxes. What makes you think they are going to pay taxes? Boy are you naive. They will still work under the table and, if they report taxes, it will only be enough to claim EIC. They will show that they are low income so they can continue to collect their welfare benefits.
If this amnesty passes, and Ted Kennedy has passed 7 since 1986, all of which resulted in higher illegal immigration, Teddy boy will make sure he strips any and all fines. You'll get nothing. He has already stripped the paying back taxes provision because, well, it would just be too hard to figure out what the little darlings owe.
You have book smarts. Now go get some street smarts.
You are a racist
