Wouldn't really matter much to me. If you break the law, you're a criminal. Doesn't matter where you come from. But Canadians wouldn't want to come here illegally. They have government paid health care, and most Canadians don't even lock their doors at night due to low crime rates. It's only the 3rd world immigrants that want to come here with a total disrespect for U.S. laws and regualtions. They don't care what laws they break or who they hurt, they just want a free ride.

If they entered the country illegally, I would feel exactly the same. They broke our immigration law, didn't go through the proper steps, and shouldn't be allowed to stay here.

Illegal immigration is a problem with immigrants coming from not only Mexico, but other Central and South American countries, the far East, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and yes, even Canada. Mexico gets most of the press because of the sheer numbers, but illegal is illegal. It's not about Where, but about How.
What difference does it make where they come from? I may be even more upset if they were Canadians because they would be harder to ferret out. I don't care where the illegals come from. They are wrecking our economy, taking or devaluing jobs, and clogging medical and social services much needed by our citizens.
People wouldn't come from Canada illegally because their lives would be worse if they came to America...they can walk into the ER and get help w/o having to worry about it, people aren't stealing cars and robbing houses, and people aren't shooting each other in Canada for no reason...they wouldn't come to America and have Americans spend all their hard earned tax money on deporting them or treating them in hospitals, they would learn English and not demand that we learn their language, they would not have 100's of kids and then apply for welfare and foodstamps to support them, they commit crimes and can't get in trouble for it because they're not in the system...when you have a car accident w/one of the many illegal aliens and can't do anything about it, then you'll worry!

To me illegal immigration is never "right". But I can feel empathy towards those who have chosen that route. It is definitely difficult to get permission/immigration to a different country and most of these people who are illegal immigrants here are the one's that were not eligible for immigration. Most of these people came anyway in hopes of a better life/education/opportunites that they do not get in their own country. However, if I was in their position, I don't think I would have come without permission. Life is hard but harder without legal rights.

Absolutely!! Illegal is Illegal. Regardless what country you are from you should come to the United Staes the Legal way. I don't have anything against the Mexicans other than the fact they think it is their God given right to break the law and cross the borders. They are condoning breaking the law. If the situation is so bad they need to come to the US the legal way. Mexico needs to do more to improve their lifes through jobs. Even if life is bad no one should resort to breaking the law.

No, Canada has something to offer their citizens. They are not running from a poor economy. If they come here, nine times out of ten it is to visit, or they are legal.
Illegal immigration has been going on for years. The most shocking thing about it now is the realization that there may be 20 million illegals here no matter where they came from! That is 6.6% of our total population. Too many to be naturally absorbed without causing noticeable problems in the U.S. as a whole. It has nothing to do with racism.

Canada has been guilty of not helping to secure the Northern Borders too and there is no telling how many Illegals have come here using their waterways and tunnels, into states that share their border.
