If we defended it like the minutemen, we'd have to send the illegals home ASAP before they began to stink. Dead bodies don't smell very good.

Would be nice, but wouldn't happen. The differences in opinion are greatly different, then you have human rights preachers up your a@# and politically correctness. Then you would have to be sure that they were actually illegal. Too much stuff to worry about, and lots of americans don't think rationally, and would do thinks on a see and kill basis. So it's a bad plan.

Those of us who came over here legally are shamed by those who break the law.
I'm a proud second generation American-Mexican (Yes, I put it in that order deliberately.), and I think all the illegals should be rounded up, jailed, and then deported in a unkind manner.
Firstly, the Minutemen are vigilantes they are useless for stopping illegal immigration. Second, there are tens of millions of people in this country illegally. Because they are here illegally, WE DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE. Are you going to ask everyone for ID? Some illegals are here from every country in Europe. Many are well educated and speak better English than you or I. There is no national USA ID card. So people have Social Security cards, and State IDs and drivers licenses. Thirdly, who would pay for sending all these people back to their countries of origin? Fourth, many, if not most of these people are gainfully employed. How long would it take to hire and train new people to do the work done by illegal workers? Fifth, airports are crowded now, should we give them priority airfare, or should we lock them up in concentration camps like the Nazis did with the Jews who were non-Aryan "illegal" citizens?
Bush could send the military to the border have it under control in just one day. If we are indeed the worlds superpower we seem to be every where but at the southern border. If every America step forwarded well you will get results like you never got results
Rough guess estimate, if done efficiently through sweeps..6 months to a year and a half and that would include their dependents. They should be photgraphed fingerprinted and board the buses and Jumbo jets to their home of origin non-stop! Once word gets around, they would exodus quickly, on their own.
