How much did your family have to pay (in cash) to become an American citizen?
Answer:
Same answer as last time:
Back then, there was no welfare, no food stamps, little (if anything) in the way of government education...
If you didn't work, you either relied on a church, or you starved. Far different than today.
Actually, I think they should charge even more...they took much more than that in lost services, higher insurance, higher taxes, medical expenses.hey, they are getting off cheap! And personally, I dont think citizenship should be for sale either...
nope it should be more? it costs alot for people to do it the legal way why should the millions of illegals get off cheaper?
i am not sure because my parents said that i shouldnt worry about the money and concentrate only on spending it on designer thing!!
As of today an LPR, Legal Permanent Resident, can apply to become a U.S. Citizen by summiting a from I-400. The total of this form is $400.00. For a person that was born outside the U.S. and has a parent from the U.S. could qualify for U.S. Citizenship by summiting the form N-600. That form costs $255.00. They are other ways to qualify for U.S. Citizenship but these two are the most commun. Where do you get the 5 G's from?
blood, sweat, tears, slavery and death.you can't put a price on that.but we came here legally if not willingly.
What happened to your family over 100 years ago is not relevant to my opinion of today's problem. If someone wants to move to a new country and follow the proper legal channels to get there, then I'm fine with it and I don't care if it costs $5 or $5 Million. I think allowing people who are already here illegally to stay for $5,000 is unfair to people who have followed the rules. I don't care if we're talking about people from Mexico or people from other countries.
If you just want people to agree with you, then you shouldn't ask for opinions. Thanks for the Emily Littella shout out.
To be an American citizen...Hmmm. We'll let us see here, I am taxed on all items I buy, along with more taxes due in April, along with the expensive, of which is EXTREMELY high, to go to college so I can maybe make enough to live......and I see the illegals coming here and getting higher paying jobs, bragging about getting almost ALL their taxes paid into from their paychecks back, and living high on the hog without a THIRD of my expense. I think that 1, $5,000 is cheap for the benefits this country gives them(like free grocceries). Although I think hardly any will pay that fee. It would expose a lot of the scheming going on. So, they will live under the radar, and continue to drain the economy.
