What I have been saying all along?

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic...

It is very much in the Democrats best interest to get this issue resolved while President Bush is still in office to sign it. If immigration reform is enacted by a Democratic Congress and president, it will be the Democrats' amnesty bill. Bush gives the effort a bipartisan tint even if there are few Republicans in Congress who go along.

If Democrats do virtually all the heavy lifting in Congress, however, the product will look much different than the bill the Senate just jettisoned. In fact, it will probably look a lot like the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform that passed the Senate last year with 62 votes, including 23 Republicans.

McCain-Kennedy included a much more relaxed path to citizenship for current illegal immigrants, and gave a similar path to future guest workers. It didn't restrict chain-migration and had a much less strenuous work verification requirement. Nevertheless, Bush would undoubtedly sign it.

Grassroots conservatives are congratulating themselves for having killed the Senate immigration compromise. I suspect, however, they have just paved the way for a much more liberal immigration reform - probably after 2008, but perhaps before.

Answer:
I have been thinking this all along. Its actually a gift horse for the Democrats, if they rally the Hispanic vote, they could possibly win big in 2008, if they promise to pass a real amnesty bill.

Sorry to inform some of you conservatives, it isn't always, "the will of the people" that governs this country.
Pure specualtion....it is sad that you hang on like that...but do so if you must...

EDIT- The Hispanic vote? You are so delusional that you cant see the forest thru the trees? The Blacks in this Nation are against this as well..more and more the tide is turning against you.like I said before...it is so sad to see you hang on like this...however dont go away mad...just go away...
I think the American people have already spoken up about this issue.
I was wondering where you were...
well as you can see Citizens stood up for what they believed in and got it done... now in 2008 or whenever... we will stand up again... but we will burn that bridge when we get there... if Americans didn't go for this bill.. do you really think they will go for full fledged amnesty again... NO
Of course it is, it couldn't possibly be the fault of the corrupt politicians and businesses and the conscienceless illegals, could it? And it's certainly not your fault, you alone are blameless. Your suspicions don't give you the right to blame everyone but yourself. In fact, it doesn't give you the right to blame anyone!
Pure speculation based on one persons opinion. We're now hammering our Senators and House Reps to bring pressure to bear in getting the fence/wall built, and for ICE to begin doing large raids and impose employer sanctions. Btw, that Newspaper is called the "Arizona Repulsive" in the southwest.
Well you made a comment on the government focusing more on the Hispanic vote? That is why more Americans that don't classify themselves in a group need to get on their representatives. I am tired of this race action based on votes alone.

We the people do matter, that is why phones lines shut down, because of that response from those "that don't matter" this bill is dead now.
this is exactly why I wasn't upset that the immigration bill failed, look it's highly likely that Hilary Clinton will be the next pres.[Obama has a chance too] because a lot of Republicans are dissatisfied w/ their candidates b/c there seems to be no "true conservative"
and Hispanics 3 to 1 are planning on voting Democrat [compared to 40% of hispanics voting Republican in the last election]
and well let's face it there's a good chance that a more liberal bill will be presented in congress .and yeah looks like you should have quited while you guys were ahead

lol ppl go ahead give my answer a -30 rating that isn't gonna change what might happen
really Micky b/c most antis that I've seen are white, I will admitt that some are not but they clearly do not make up the majority in that group
Sorry metro but our numbers are growing, more and more people are tired of the way things are going and they're more determined to make a change. I have seen all sorts of people protesting the invasion. Rarely in our history have we seen so many races united for a common cause. You're a sure bet to lose on this one.
Keep dreaming more and more people are turning against you
You also said that amnesty bill would pass this time. How did that work out for ya????
That's why I am a Hispanic American and I will vote for change next year.

I like how people who are against illegal immigration think they will have a big impact again. It's not about immigration anymore next year, it's to vote for President and everyone will be involved. Even if most voters don't care or have nothing to say about immigration (they have other reasons for voting), they will have an impact on the votes (they might lean towards candidates for reform but not care too much), and so will the Hispanics. I'm feeling good about next year.
Why are you still discussing the amnesty bill... It's over & done with. The American people have spoken & we won the battle. Get over it already!
CORRECT
15 to 20 percent of the population is Hispanic, and much of it can't vote due to age or immigration status. Compare that to the other 80 to 85 %.

The fact that Hispanics would have a growing block of votes due to demographics if ever they voted in unison doesn't mean that if the rest have a real problem with something, they willl be 'less' important.

The fact is, NONE of us vote in a block by ethnicity.
True.
For the past few weeks you have executed the most vibrant display on this issue that you could muster. Now with this piece of information I understand your thinking. By not being a citizen of this country you are not afforded the exclusive right, privilege nor luxury to even be a participant in this process. Not once did you ever think of how a bill of this nature could affect this entire country and every one of her citizens. Your thought in this matter concerned you and only you. You claim to "love" and "appreciate" this country. Yet your thoughts, words and actions speak differently. Here, a country who has provided you with the wonderful life you lead and your thought of repayment and respect is, "To heck with what this bill could do to this country as long as I get MY legal status". You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. If you are not, don't worry Metro, this country and her citizens will once again take up your slack and be ashamed for you. We are all now fully aware that you are self centered and selfish. This is all about you and you could care less about anyone else or how this will affect anyone but yourself. The majority of legal Hispanic immigrants are against any form of amnesty. Only the illegal Hispanics are for an amnesty bill. Let's not forget illegal Hispanic aliens do not have the liberty to vote. Much like you Metro. Since you are not a legal citizen of this country you cannot even participate in this process. Yell all you please but remember the legal citizens of this country have already spoken on this issue. As I've advised you before, and this goes for spazz, give yourself a few more years. Perhaps 5-8 depending on your age. Hopefully by then you'll have at least finished high school. Maybe have a few years of college under your belt. You'll have some more life expericence behind you. You'll have worked a little bit. Come back then. Until you are a citizen of this country you have zero say in the matter. Illgeal criminals have no rights to any process in the United States.
