Why blame Blair for immigration?
Mass Immigration started in the 1950's after the Act was passed by the Labour Government of Clement Atlee that allowed ALL citizens of Commonwealth countries the right to live and work in the UK (yes, all 800 MILLION Commonwealth citizens).
Not to mention that the UK needed the labor force at the time!
And the current rules that allow immigrants from new members of the EU were agreed for at the Maastricht Treaty during the government of John Major - remember when we got our opt-out of the Euro, the Germans got recognition of Slovenia and Croatia, and 250,000 Bosnians paid the price with their lives?
So why does everyone try to blame Blair - I personally despise the guy and his little coterie of spin doctors; but I hate him for the war in Iraq and the acrtual failures of his premiership - not for something he had nothing to do with!
Or am I completely wrong and Blair is responsible for the choices made by previous administrations?

Blair-bashing is the new national craze, he gets the blame for everything, including house prices! I blame the EU for immigration, but the Government is doing stuff all to stop any more people entering this country.
Believe you me, this govt has screwed immigration. It was screwed before, but this govt put it over the dispatch box and screwed it some more.
I don't see me blaming Blair - just his entire poxy government. And as a Chief Immigration Officer I think I have a clue. What about you?
because he was in power 10 years ago when the British national party warned him what was going to happen, and he not only ignored the BNP, he also slated them as racists, and Nazis. now they are being proved correct all along, and labour and cons are following suit. and as for Nazis, didn't Hitler want a united Europe, and be at the head of it. aka tony blurgh. didn't Hitler say to his people, you do as i say, as does tony blurgh, Iraq war. dictator blurgh, dictator Adolf.
This fellow blair never asked the people,, we would of said no..they have turned this country into a cess pit overcrowded uk ...extra 2 million ilegal and legal migrants,, how the hell r we going to cut back on energy and waste when theu leave thousands in every week oh i know tax the locals even more about time they owned up to this mess F--- Blair
It has plenty to do with Blair!!! The Government admitted it had signed away to the European Union the right to limit the numbers on immigrants coming into the country.
Despite repeatedly promising to maintain control over immigration and Britain's borders, the Government has opted into a common European immigration system.
Mr Blair tried to "pull the wool over the British people's eyes.
The Prime Minister had promised that he would not give up power over immigration to the EU, but he did...
Because Blair could have changed the rule's and stopped all of this mass immigration, too many in such a short time.

in the last 5 years my city has become swamped with eastern europeans,our schools are full and it is taking extra resources to teach them english,i have many friends in business who are being undercut by cheap labour,some people say thats good,try getting a mortgage on the minimum wage,and dont even think about a council place,eastern europeans with children go to the top of the list,this doesnt happen in france or germany or other eu countries,so who let all this happen?its no good talking about the 1950s what about now!
