Also we have heard because he is a turkish national i myself will not be entitled to any form of benefits or help from public funds is this true as if we have a baby we will get no help?

Answer:
It's a small world after all........ lol sorry but my fiance and I are going through the same process at the moment so I hope this will be of some help....

You must apply for the settlement (fiance) visa in turkey at the British consult or, it can be paid for online in some instances I assume you have found

www.ukvisas.gov.uk.

You must have a load of supporting evidence because, as you've correctly stated above, you will not be allowed to gain access to any public funds whilst he is unable to work in the UK (This is for one year after you have been married)

Public funds include all of the UK's benefits (social security, Jobseekers allowance, housing benefit etc) If you are pregnant it is vital that this is shown on the application form as you may be allowed to claim child benefit and child tax credits once your child is born.

As he cannot work for a year they will be looking in your supportive evidence that you will be able to manage finacially on one income for a year and that you rent or own your own accomodation.

My fiance and I have been told that it will be a good idea to include, phone bills, plane tickets, photograhphs etc in our supporting evidence as well as his pay checks and a letter of conformation of work by his employer and all of my financial records (bank statements etc)

They have also requested that we show our plans for getting married (ideas of dates and venues etc) and have reminded us that he cannot vlaim any benefits the first year he is here and that at the end of that year he must re-apply to become a permenant resident of the UK which will entitle him to a work visa.

Let him apply for a fiance visa in his home country. You will be required to provide some financial, residential and job information to the embassy. If he gets the visa,he has 90days to marry you and then he could work, study and do anything just like an immigrant until he stays for 3-5yrs to apply for citizenship.
First, let him apply for fiance visa.He will be allowed to work upon entry to the UK.
I don't know much about the benefits you are talking about.
The above poster is correct. You can't claim anything.
Just to add, a colleague of mine became pregnant shortly after she married. It did not speed up her husbands visa application. She is now supporting them all (they had twins) and can't even apply for family tax credit due to the 'no claims from the public purse' rule.
You are entitled to claim Child Beneift as the child's mother. If you were in a position financially where you could claim Tax credit, you would be able to claim it. Just because your husband is Turkish, does not prevent you getting benefits. If his visa says no recourse to public funds, it means he cannot get anything, not you. If he was working, any income he brings into the house would affect benefits, but not Child Benefit. Get a form from your local Social Security office.
From what I can gather, providing there is no recourse to public funds & he can be supported somehow, there is no reason why he shouldn`t come here? The financial situation applies to all who seek to live here, providing they are self sufficient,I believe the door is open.?
