Mexicans are proud of their diverse ethnic heritage. Most Mexicans are not indigenous, so they do not speak indigenous languages. Most Mexicans are meztisos. They have an ethnically mixed heritage. They have Spanish and indigenous in their ethnic background; some also have African and Asian heritage. Few Mexicans have only Spanish ethnic backgrounds, but most of them have Spanish ancestors.
The Maya are indigenous people. There are still some Maya living in Mexico, and of course they are Mexicans. There are some Mexicans who speak indigenous languages.
In Mexico the 72% of the people speaks Spanish the other 28% speaks 62 different dialects.

They speak whatever language their parents spoke. I am guessing when they were conquered many of the conquerers and the ones conquered intermarried and slowly the language took over. Native Americans usually speak English and we conquered them. African Americans speak English. It happens all throughout history. There is no shame in speaking the language of those who conquered you. As that is how language slowly takes over. They were conquered and had to learn this new language if they wanted food, homes, jobs, etc.
You can be proud of your heritage even if you don't speak the natural language of it. Your heritage is made up of a lot of other stuff.

Since I am American-Spaniard let me educate you. Mayan are from Central America & which is now Guatemala. Aztecs are from North America & which is now Mexico. Spain invade the Mayan & Aztec land in Thousands years ago. The Aztecs & Mayans are force to learn Spanish. Then years later, the Spaniards made new race. The ethnic group of Mexican is Aztec & Spaniard. The ethnic group of Guatemala are Mayan & Spaniard. Those it ring the bell now?
Why do Americans speak English of the language of the British? Because the British made a new race which is well you know & yes we kick there *** too. Why the Morocco speak French? And buy there it goes on.

Plus if you ask why mexicans speak the conquerors leanguage is like asking americans why dont they speak the original lenguage or their native indians and they speak english.
Mexico lost all their own culture, languages, religion & billions or trillion dollars worth of treasure golds, and other precious arts, artifacts to spain and europe and millions of their people died, slave for spain next 5 centuries. Today they live on borrow culture, languages , religion from spainard and they proud of it.
Mexico, have an opportunity to take back southwest u.s before & proceed to wwII when germany & japan offer technologies exchange, economic trade & millitary assistant. But they listen to jew cabal gringos advicers and turn it down, missed a great opportunity ever.
Now they're abadon their home land and migrate to some where else for easy hand out, these people must have being curse by the land they live on or they just suck or what and don't have a life.
