What to do with illegal immigrants? What are your opinions?
I want to know what you think should be done about this. Are you for amnesty? Do you want them deported? Is illegal immigration a major factor on deciding who you vote for in 2008?

It's a major factor for me. I can't understand why the illegal could not be held and deported? I am not for amnesty of any kind and I personally want all of the ILLEGALS deported ASAP. We should not have to deal with this type of criminal element in our nation any longer. I hope people haven't quit their emails and faxes and phone calls to our reps in gov't. It won't go away without enforcement!
This criminal should be deported..Why don't we take it up with our govt. who allows these types free reign...
Please keep in mind, the majority of these people are NOT out committing crimes..In fact, the opposite, they don't want to get deported.It just takes a few, to ruin it for the rest.

You know what no one should be deported think about if u were an immgrant would u like to deported after working so hard to come here. take a look at the number of mexican and hispanic names in of people in jail in my city of arlington,texas. http://www.arlingtonpd.org/ you will see an overwhelming majority of their ethnic group. One of them, Chavez, is being deported. Check out the people arrested for prostitution too, most of them are hispanic. just scroll down and look at "prostitution arrests".
All illegal immigrants should be deported.
The incident with your brother is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
If he were to be prosecuted and put into jail, we would be paying for his jail time. If he was deported, we would be paying to deport him, then he would just jump the border and come right back.

Well obviously your using this example to get the answer you want. . .which is for them to get deported. BUT you have to realize there are a lot of them out there who didn't have any say on whether they wanted to come illegally, more than 50,000 thousand high school graduates (a year) are illegal immigrants that have been brought here by their parents. (And a huge part of them want to go to college and don't commit any crimes) You have to look at both sides of the story, not just yours. It's an unfair argument and very bias by your part. . .
They , the criminal acts of DWI , assault, & leaving the scene, are a separate issue from illegal immigration. The problem in your brother's case is that the perpetrator was given low bail or no bail . Would think that after the local criminal case is settled , then the INS would get involved. Maybe the problem is a turf war situation, between local & federal agencies? (If you've accurately represented it .) Whatever happened seems to have ~ 0 to do with the larger issue .

Ani, most get by with fake SS#s. They DO pay taxes, & put about $7B/yr into SS, that they'll never see . ( That came out in the SS privitization debate , from somebody official ( CBO?)) If they were legal, they could claim EIC, & various deductions that would reduce or eliminate their taxes. Why do so many concern themselves with the taxes of people who make < min. wage ? (Don't mean you ,Ani) Many of the Congresscritters all up-in-arms about that issue (are they so upset when not in front of a camera?) think nothing of giving special breaks to their campaign contributors, that let billionaires & multi-billion $ (trillion?) corporations pay little to nothing .

If that person had never broken the law in the first place by coming across the border your brother would have never had to have gone through that. And yes the person who has the strongest stance on illegal immagration has my vote, 100%!!
This criminial should absolutely be deported. Amnesty is a complete joke. Why should ILLEGAL immigrants not have to pay taxes for a certain amount of time while, we legal American citizens have to? All of the immigrants who entered this country illegally should be deported immediately. If they really want to get into this country, they should do it LEGALLY like everyone's supposed to.

12 million immigrants will not be deported, it's a fact. They need to become legal in some way because they aren't going anywhere and they can't remain illegal forever.
This exact thing is why the second amendment is so important. We have the right to defend ourselves from deadly harm! If this scumbag had hit the wrong person the problem would have been solved on the spot! If the police and feds won't protect us what choice do we have? I for one don't want to stand idly by and become a victim of this lawlessness!

We should deport most of the illegal aliens in this country. They can easily be replaced by the hundreds of millions of people who want to legally enter our country. I would allow only those; who work in agriculture, have college degrees or who have needed job skills to have a chance at amnesty. The rest should be deported ASAP.
We must follow a policy of Attrition through enforcement.

if they are illegal, I want them deported no matter how small the crime. ITS not like they can't come back: it's easier to get in the U>S then get a drivers license.
My personal opinion is to deport all illegal aliens. Many people come to the U.S. to start a new life and if they do that through the proper channels the have to pay a lot to get all needed documents. After receiving their documents, being it permanent resident, temp work permit or whatever, they do help the economy with their work, they pay all taxes etc. Illegals do not contribute to our economy, they did not go through the proper channels, they should be send back to where ever they came from. Most definitely no amnesty for any!
I think they should be deported. Every one that is here illegally. So what if they are hard workers. they are taking up all the jobs for American anyway!! Isn't that what we pay tax dollars for?? They can commit crimes and get away with it because the government does not have any identification for them. All they do is go back to Mexico and get a new Id and come back and commit more crimes under their new identity. Something is really wrong here!!
Illegal should be deported back to where they came from, period.
I know they do a lot of jobs Americans would not do and some businesses count on them to do it.
But if the businesses paid more maybe they could get legal help.
You didn't ask, but anyone living in the US should speak English, too.
The politicians are going to have to do a lot more explaining of their platform because I haven't heard much from them on any subject yet.
