It varies in different locations, substantially. There are many photos but some are of old sheet metal from old war air fields, some are barriers (cement filled posts in the ground) and some are more substantial.

outrageous5's link is the Minuteman fence, which is to inspire the govt to do better. Industry has donated millions in high tech surfacing to stand as a 'sample' of what the govt could do.
This is a really good question. I like to see people questioning our government. I'm just taking their word for it but I'm very interested in seeing it for myself. I personally don't know but just wanted to complement you on your question. I have heard that our border with Mexico is much larger than the fence the government is building so that does not make any sense to me.
Go to the American Border Patrol site. They have pictures and information on the fence or should I say the lack of fence.
