What happened to congress's claim back in 1986 that amnesty was a "one time only" fix for illegal aliens?

Answer:
That's simple - They lied to us then and they are lying to us now. Do people realize what this country is going to look like when 12 - 14 million Mexicans are allowed citizenship in this country and then allowed to bring their extended families? People better wake up and realize that we will be living in a totally different country. OPPOSE AMNESTY! This is politicians trying to make gains - some for cheap labor and some for cheap votes. Although 80% of Americans favor stopping the mass of immigrants that come into our country before any guest worker program is started, our politicians have ignored our voice. Call or write your congressman - they will listen if they think they are going to get voted out of office next go round!
It failed then, and it failed 10 tears later, and it probably will fail again.
It was politically expedient back then, and it's become so again. That's all politicians care about, is furthering their careers (and fattening their pocketbooks, of course). All you have to do is look at their voting records -- all of them, mind you -- to see that.
Everything is always a one-time fix! You should know that by now.

The one time they are referring to is that one-time, not any other one-time
