American Fiance Visa?

I am English, my husband to be is American, we are applying for a fiance visa and are wondering how long it will be until we have a descision and I can move out there?

My husband-to-be lives in Washington State, which is eventually where we will be getting married.

Answer:
The US citizen must file a petition for the visa along with the supporting documentation. Then the foreign citizen will need to work with US consulate officials in the home country. It typically takes 6-9 months to receive the visa. With US and UK you should be on the shorter end of that time line. You won't have document translation issues and the UK is a developed nation with a good relationship with the US. Upon entry you have 90 days to get married and then take the next step with the immigration service. INS is now BCIS (Bureau of Immigration and Citizenship Services) the process begins with Form I-129F which will be submitted with a G-325A providing biographic information. The US citizen will also need to provide a statement of support and financial information. After the marriage you file Form I-485 to obtain conditional permanent residence and I-765 to receive employment authorization. Two years after the marriage you file to remove the condition on permanent residency. US immigration law is very compliance driven, you must carefully follow all procedures and fully disclose everything. Also, it is important that you have met in person prior to applying for the visa. Given the complexity of the process and the need for strict compliance I strongly recommend an immigration attorney to assist you. The cost is quite worth it. Good luck and welcome to America.

Be careful that you do NOT follow the advice of the person suggesting you enter on a visitor visa. You are allowed to visit on a visitor visa but the visitor visa does not allow intent to marry. Entering for improper purposes under your visa is considered fraud. Fraud can have you removed from the US and restricted from entry for 10 years. Always comply with the law, there are no shortcuts in US immigration.
Between two weeks and 90 days. If you're English, why not just come over on a tourist visa? If I'm correct, you don't even need a visa, just your passport for a short stay and then you can file for extensions.
From what I understand I wouldn't pack your bag right now. Investigations are taking longer and backing everything up.
