Do people really think illegals are here because they want to be Americans?

I've heard this same sentiment from illegal immigrants I have met from Central America. They have no desire to gain citizenship. Their only aim is to make as much money as possible, send it home and not just to support their families there, many of them are sending the money home to stockpile so that when they return they can build themselves a home and maybe a business and live like royalty back there. They told me they have no intention to stay here permanently. In fact, often when they feel they have enough money or they are homesick and want to go back home, they turn themselves into immigration for the free transportation back home. For Central Americans, this amounts to a nice plane trip and they enjoy that trip immensely and they return home to be celebrated by their friends and family as heroes. I know this to be absolutely true for all of those that I have met and I have met quite a few.

Do NOT generalize. Just because some Mexicans said that, doesn't mean ALL Mexicans feel the same way. I have seen many Mexicans, particularly women, that cry when they are being deported.
You are absolutely right. This is not limited to Hispanic or illegal immigrants. I have met several Pakistani and others that are here legally, they take advantage of the system send the money back home and leave when their visas expire. They're all here for the money none of them care to contribute to American Society. But they love crying "racism" when they get the chance.

Unfortunately yes. The simple truth is they are invaders not immigrants. Awhile back the liberals convinced a lot of people that America is bad. Well those people need to move to Iran and then see what they think.
Basically if you come to this country +20 years old, you are just too attached to your country that you will have to go back. If you went to Europe, would you go back to USA? hell yeah rite. As for me, Im not mexican I got here when I was very young but my family and when we latinos mean family we mean (uncle,grandpa,grandgrandpa,si... the big tree , theyre all back in Peru and would be nice to be close to them and live in the same big house like the good old times :).
Maybe that's the reason most of them want to go back, b/c theyre mexicans. Theyre not north americans, no person in the world would change its nationality.
But youre right ive noticed mexicans have that hate for US, I've heard of it I speak to them and most of them (the ones who were not born) hate USA b/c of history and texas californias blah blah yakitty yak.
They have their reasons to go back maybe family culture friends etc..
this is a great point. We are in a battle to save this country. The illegals don't have any desire to become americans. They just want to live here, take advantage of the taxpayers here, not pay taxes, and take the money back to mexico. I don't understand why more people don't see this or care about this. Everyone complains about the cost of living, gas, food, etc.. but then they don't care that we are spending billions and billions of dollars a year on illegals in this country.
I've seen that exact sentiment on a documentary. It takes so much less for them to set up house in Mexico that they can come make the money here and set themselves up pretty well for life. I would say that would be more common and esasier for those who don't register with the government.
We just need to keep the illegals out, period. I see nothing good that comes out of it. And if we need workers for certain jobs, then rachet up legal immigration from the millions and millions of people who are trying to do it legally.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I think it's more complicated then that. A lot of illegals enjoy the social freedom they have in the States (despite their attitude, which might be a reaction to the contempt directed at them, or maybe it's just a popular attitude to have right now). But a lot of them want to go back to Mexico because of these social freedoms. Back to their towns and families and strong traditional conservative values.
What do you mean by "they?" How can you generalize all illegals by saying that they all hate America...That is TRULY the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...Some people are really grateful to be in America because it has allowed them to take care of their families, not take advantage of the system...
They are not here to be Americans,they are here to take America.
They still want to be Mexicans, speak Spanish and not English, still have Mexican culture but make money here.
Some of them just want to work and send money home to Mexico, which I can't really blame them for, they are just trying to make it better for their family. Others want to do the other things I listed above plus put all their family welfare or other benefits and not pay any taxes either.
If they wanted to be Americans they would not drape themselves in shirts with Che Guevera, the Mexican flags or Made in Mexico logos. I have seen all of that and much worse in Phoenix all the time. So yes, I am very against illegal immigrants from Mexico.
Though to be honest, I am pretty sure the same sort of things were said about the Irish immigrants here in the 1800's through the turn of the century. You can see lots of Irish pride in many NYC or Boston communities.
That is just to be fair. I think we should be fair and try to see some of this in perspective, even when we are mad about it.
The doctor who saved my daughters life is from India.We sat many nights together as he watched over her and I got to know him well.When I asked him if he was a citizen he got an funny look on his face and said no but he was a legal resident.Then asked if I wanted another doctor.After assuring him I didn't we talked at length about his country.To make a long story a little shorter he said he didn't want to be a U S citizen.He wanted to take the skills he'd learned and help his people at home.He stayed at that hospital at night,leaving his family to sit with my daughter.This man who many would say is anti american.But not me I understand what he meant.He loves his country just as we love ours.He too gets to use American benefits to help his country.But he has also paid his dues to our country and my family is grateful to him.His country will be much better thanks to what he's learned and earned here.It has nothing to do with if he respects our country to become a citizen.The same as the Mexicans.They don't need to become a citizen to benefit us.It's about opportunity and giving back.Whether it's here or their own country.Maybe they don't want to be citizens and just want to earn enough to start a business at home.Is that wrong?People everyday from all over do it.I will miss Dr.Raaj when he leaves but his country will gain a great doctor.
