Considering America stole most of the Southwest in a trumped up war with Mexico, is this just karma?
Answer:
Au contrair, ROCKSTARNOMAD, AMERICANS grudgingly allowed many MEXICANS to move into their territory. Then all of a sudden the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS started demanding things from the AMERICAN government, ridiculous considering they were not even citizens. This led to a series of clashes, and the Americans called in the government to intervene. And since they wanted the JOBS AND BENEFITS anyway, AMNESTY AND "LET US/THEM STAY" fever won out...
Works both ways...
I think the biggest problem with your concept is that it's highly unlikely that you are going to do anything more than create open warfare along the southern border, even if you managed to peacefully pass legislation to cede that territory.
What the history of the situation actually is only bears relevance on the current situation by influencing the beliefs and therefore behavior of those involved...
...and very few actually share your perception of history.
I say we wrap you up in a soft tortilla shell and catapult you over to the other side.
Look, in 1848 the USA bought that territory from Mexico. Get over it!
It is not Karma, it is our politicians allowing a certain criminal crowd to break laws that Americans are expected to follow.
Karma would be the politicians getting bent over without Vaseline and illegals supporters having at them; but then again they seem to enjoy it.
A war the Mexicans provoked I might add.
A war settled under the acceptable rules of international law.
Seeing my ancestors fought for the loyalists in the American Revolution, I think I am going to start making similar claims. Why shouldn't the British (and now the Canadians) get North America back because some colonists would not pay their taxes?
We fought a war that American won,the land was NOT stolen ,it was first the spoils of war and secondly Mexico was paid millions for the land. Since most of you don't understand the tern illegal to begin with how could I expect you to understand winning a war since Mexico never has won any .
And you wont win this one. Its almost time to take it to the people.
Spazz I wonder just what you are and what other people call
you.
The spanish took it from the native americans, the mexicans took it from the spanish and the the US took it from the mexicans, where's the problem?
Guatemala was part of mexico up to the 50's,why don't mexicans crossed the border to Guatemala, the reason is that they are in worse shape than mexico,so the real reason mexicans come to america is because of the good the US citizens have done in the country
History is not your strong suit, is it?
Thank God, Texas is part of the United States, if it was not then they would be crossing the Oklahoma boarder. Fact is, Mexico is a horrible country because so many of their people are leaving family memebers to run from that place.
For one reason, America is the greatest nation on the planet. Maybe we should have taken all of Mexico, and then those poor families would not have to separate.
Go take a course in history my child. First a vast majority of the area was bought and paid for, much of which was paid AFTER the land was taken in war by the US, and had no obligation at all to then again pay $s, but this was done just to ease the matter. As to what other lands that you claim as stolen, check out a thing called REALITY. Wars happen, lands change hands, it is called conquering. Been happening world wide since man first drew breath. Victorious nations don't give back territory they paid for in blood. AND, who owned this territory? It was not Mexico, but a hodgepodge of foreign European empires, France, Spain, France, and whoever else was able to butcher enough of the local population to claim an area as his own. So who stole what? The USA stole lands that were stolen by one empire from another several times, that centuries prior stole it from the native stone age Indians. Take your time studying, you might just learn some facts to include with your sophomoric thinking.
I'd suggest you study your history. Mexico ceded the land (approximately 550,000 square miles) under the generous Guadalupe Hidalgo treaty we gave them AFTER we kicked the crap out of them. Under the treaty we paid them 15 million dollars (This was in 1848, you adjust for todays value) and absorbed another 3 million dollars of their debt as our own.
Edit: Facts are facts, and btw...we didn't start that war...THEY did.
This is your second and last history lesson from me today. Know your facts before you try revisionist history.
So how exactly did we "steal" the land again?
ROFLMAO!
What an imagination.
Wow...You are what..Oh, about 200 years old to be able to know what EXACTLY went on during the war. And you are totally disregarding the fact that the USA PAID for the land...
hahaha. you do have a point. I would not cede Texas to Mexico but I would cede George Bush's ranch, just so he can stop putting on a cowboy clothes and looking ridiculous playing cowboy instead of running the country (did you know he has taken more vacation days than any president in over 30 years?)
as for the Mexico losing the southwest to the US, that is just geopolitics. they were on land they didn't know was ours before we got there, and they had the audacity to defend it, they were lucky to get any money at all from us after their humiliating defeat. :o) as for the reconquista, yes that is karma but also good for US businesses and the US economy, no matter what the paranoid minutemen types will say. we get 3rd world laborers without the trouble of having to move our companies and industries overseas, fine by me. better than having everything say "made in China".
Remember the Alamo.
You sell me your porche for $5, the porche is mine. Santa Anna filled his wallet, blame him not the Americans, He thought that he had got a deal, the land was not stolen.
if mexico wants the south back come in get it see what happen we won the war before with mexico we can do it again
