For what exactly? Are you planning on traveling, getting a driver's license, getting married, applying for a job? Your question is not a real question.
You need a passport, however, you may be able to travel on your Mexican passport with your green card in lieu of a visa, THAT I don't know. You want the State Department web page, and search for 'travel documents'.
If you have a Permanent Resident Alien Card, then that is your passport.
If you are planing to travel outside of the US. Then upon entering you will need a valid Mexican passport along with your LPR card. This year the state department implemented the passport rule. Previously you would have been allowed to travel with a state identification and LPR card, but times are changing. Now EVERYONE needs a passport to travel outside the US.
If you are a national from another country living in the U.S. on a resident card, you are required to keep your passport current... It is one of the stipulations when the govt issues your resident card.
you need a passport now. go to www.travel.state.gov and see and see the western hemisphere travel initaitive. it now mandates all people even us citizens to have a passport to reenter the usa.

My husband is a Canadian citizen. When he travels abroad he needs his resident card and his Canadian passport. The resident card means nothing to other countries. It will only allow you back in America when you come home.
