"high voltage fence" rather "virtual fence"?

On CNN, it was announced that the virtual fence is in effect as of today. I live in Tucson, AZ - Immigrant Capital of the US, a few miles from Mexico-AZ Border, and do you think a high voltage fence would work better? That way, if the jump on the fence and try to clinb it will zapp them back to their side of the border. would that work? I am giving points for the best answer

Answer:
I think they should electrify the fence for sure...and set up streaming video on a public domain for those to watch so they know the country is finally doing its job .I mean when you are having a hard day...just connect to watch the Mexican jumping beans flop around on the ground in real time, it would perk any good US citizen up . Maybe the cast of Jack A*ss could give it the first test. Johnny Nashville can be wrapped up in a tortilla shell and be flung against it until he starts turning brown. Now that is entertainment .
I want both.
1,000,000 volts with a lot of amps
Believe me, that virtual fence is not up and working. the contractor is having software problems. Maybe next week.
How about a thing that when you step on a giant tennis racket type of material flings them back and another on the opposite end slaps them back and forth. At least for a couple of minutes until the border patrol arrives.
High voltage fences are not designed to do things like that. They are electrified just enough so that if you come into contact with them, your body will temporarily lose muscle control and you will be unable to scale it. The required length of the fence would make it incredibly expensive to build and it would require a very large amount of power. People would still find a way around it anyway.
I like how you think. Here are my thoughts:
1) Build a 12 foot fence with razor wire on top.
2) Post the National Guard on the U.S. side.
3) Arm the National Guard with "shoot to kill" if anyone gets over the fence.
4) Construct a crematorium on the U.S. side.
5) Throw any illegal alien dead bodies and cremate.
6) Start tossing any of the drug dealers, gang members and general criminals (even in the jails) back over the fence. Put them back in Mexico where they belong,
6) Stop all welfare, food stamps, subsidized or free housing and free medical. None. If they don't have legal status or insurance...no medical. Let them have their babies in an alley.
7) No anchor babies.
8) No illegal aliens in our nursing homes on Medicaid.
9) Offer a free trip back to Mexico for any that want to leave.
10) Then start picking them off one by one if they are illegal. Send them back to Mexico and all of their possessions will be auctioned by the government. The monies will be used to pay back the government for all the services they have been stealing.
high voltage fence with razor wire on top and middle.
2 rows seperated by 100 yards .
then case the first one is cut you have time to catch before they hit the second.fence. also need miltary type of support.
I am a proponent of border security and enforcement first. If the administration continues to neglect enforcing our immigration laws, employers continue to demand cheap labor, and illegal drugs and people continue to pour across our wide-open southern border, I want the most efficient and cost effective system we can devise.

Many of us have experienced the jolt of an electric fence, which serves as a distinct reminder not to touch it again. You don't have to be a farm kid to know this, but bloggers and liberal activists don't notice that standard practice in security is often electrified wire on top of a security fence or wall. We do this with people and livestock all the time in the U.S., where electric wires top fences that protect factories, military installations and private buildings. It is not a new idea or a particularly bold one, no matter how strident activists would like to make it sound.

Just as Mexico has the right to enforce its immigration policies, the U.S. has the right to enact and enforce its own laws. Mexico actually has a very strict punishment for illegal border crossers. Under Mexican law, illegal immigrants to Mexico can be imprisoned for up to two years, and immigrants can be imprisoned for up to six years for staying in Mexico after their permit expires. In contrast, for years the U.S. policy for illegal border crossers has been "catch and release."

An immigration enforcement policy not only helps this country direct all traffic through the legal ports of entry, so that only legal immigrants can get in, but it must enforce the law and eliminate the jobs magnet that entices millions of people to cross our borders illegally.

There is no question that our porous borders are an easy route for terrorists and dug smugglers. A barrier along our border can effectively direct all kinds of traffic human and vehicle to the legal ports of entry, where only those with legal documents will be allowed through.

Between 1988 and 2006, $57 billion to $138 billion dollars of illegal drugs came over our Mexican border annually. This doesn't only impact border states. Iowa drug czar Marvin Van Haaften has said that more than 90 percent of the methamphetamines used in Iowa come from Mexico, and according to the Drug Enforcement Agency, 90 percent of all illegal drugs in America come across our porous southern border.

That's why 260 members of the House voted to erect a border fence in HR 4437, the immigration reform bill passed last December. The Senate also passed legislation this summer to build a shorter fence. Americans and Congress have come to a consensus. We will build a border barrier. The question is how long and what type.

I believe a wall could be built to efficiently drive traffic to the legal ports of entry, stopping those from crossing illegally and saving thousands of lives and billions of dollars by intercepting illegals, drugs, criminals and terrorists.

An effectively designed border wall can be more efficient than spending billions of taxpayer dollars annually for helicopters and Humvees to chase 11,000 people a day across the desert. There is no amount of border agents that can successfully intercept that traffic. In fact, the border patrol has testified they capture only one-quarter to one-third.

Using these methods, we currently spend $4 million per mile annually for a 75 percent failure rate. A 12-foot-high concrete wall with wires on top can be designed to be difficult to scale or tunnel under for a one-time cost of $1.3 million per mile. An efficient plan for taxpayer dollars may well include electric wires to identify the location of illegal attempts to cross and discourage illegal attempts.

If we are to continue as a nation of laws, the most cost-effective and compassionate thing we can do is build a barrier on our border to protect our country and uphold the rule of law.

*It would also be nice if our Minutemen and citizens near the border were able to shoot in defense without getting the shaft and being charged with murder.
I dont know what makes us think we can build a fence or a wall for that matter because we're having trouble getting the levies established in New Orleans, we're not even getting the homes done there, it's almost like no one can build things anymore! They were going to build a wall across the Mexican Border, and that wall would be 750 Mi. long. And apparently no one in congress has an atlas or looked at a map to realize that the border is 2000 Mi. long!

But I firmly believe that if we do build this fence, it would have to be electrical. I think that it would be effective, because no one wants to get zapped by thousands of volts and risking death trying to get to the U.S. But then again some people will risk just about anything to try to get into the U.S. to have some delicious "freedom." So it would have to be a rather lethal fence, with like 75K+ volts of electricity. The fence we have now-yes I agree-virtual fence.

You want to know a a good border protector? Not a wall, or an electrical fence. But put some citizens at the border with m16's and then the gov't should pay them like $20 a kill. And here's a thought... uhhh.. let the soldiers at the border actually do something about it! With the soldiers being there now, it's like they might as well do this- "Hello immigrants welcome to the United States can I take your order?" Call up Mexico and tell them that we will start killing anyone who tries to get into this country illegally. Because thats the most effective thing that we can do!
I just got an idea from one of the people before me. What we need to do is tell all of the illegal immigrants that they will get much better pay for picking vegetables in New Orleans than wherever they currently "work". Meanwhile, evacuate all American citizens and wait until the next big hurricane hits New Orleans. Accidently press the "detonate" button and watch the water burst through the levees and destroy all of the immigrants. That will teach those aliens to go home and stay home.
