Is it true that American children don't have a proper education?
Answer:
No this is not true, I am English and have worked in American summer camps. I have met some very clever Americans and also met some not so cleaver Americans. I guess different areas have better standards then other areas.
Creationism
It was overrun by leftists and Marxists. Collective stupidity is a plan by the ruling elite to make the sheep easier to control. Get you to believe in big government, get that teat popped in your mouth and BOOM, you are useless.
Please! How can one person make such a general statement about all the children in America. Those who use absolutes are usually quite narrowminded. Ignore the statement.
You're going to hear a lot of bad things about the USA on YAnswers. Don't take it to heart. They're just haters.
Lets see - The worlds most technologically advanced and affluent society. People from all over the world are begging to come here to live. If the purpose of education is to further a societies place in the world, then we must have at least a fairly decent education system overall.
perhaps you are getting a good education and that is wonderful..but many children do not. some kids may be problem children and teachers dont wanna put up with them..so instead of trying with them, they get passed on to the next grade so the next teacher can take care of them. or some kids may have failed a few times and may end up being too old for that grade and are placed ( not actually passed) to the next grade.
and some teachers dont focus on the childs actual problem.
my sister is graduating HS. she was in special education. now mind you she is not retarded..just a bit slow. her weakness is not being able to read well. now you would think her teacher would have tried to teach her to read better. but no. she taught her math. my sister is pretty dang good at math already! id have to say that over 3 yrs ago my sister had the reading skills of a 2nd grader...it is probably closer to that of a 5th or 6th grader now. and thats cause she taught herself! she still has trouble with really big words though.
so yeah for the most part...american children do not always get a good education.
i think the problem is not wether or not we have the tools for a proper education, but instead wether of not our fellow classmates have the motivation needed to learn all that is thrown at them. for instance, in my school the teachers are some of the best and most intelligent people i know, but now matter how well they can teach, none of the students will listen. almost half of my fellow students will end up working in a fast food joint. the problem with education today is that intelligence is not considered very important any more. it is also true that in different regions, school curiculum is different and some students just don't have the chance to get a "proper education". my thoughts are that if you want to be an educated young adult, you should get out there and take charge of reaching your educational goals no matter the obsticles!
I am sure you are getting a "nice" education if you live in a "nice" neighborhood. But the education our children get here is far below the standard of the rest of the developed world, and even some of the develping world.
I will tell you right now. Because America wants us all to live in a certain way. i say screw them! They teach us what the government want us to know. and i hate the government.
Well, its like this... our schools try, and educational resources and quality of education vary from district to district. Some kids don't realize how great our country is, and take it for granted, and don't apply themselves. However, the oppurtunities are there, if parents and teachers work together, our children can and do recieve a quality education.
illegals are bringing down standards and grade levels, they are causing schools to lose much needed funding, some children are not learning up to their potential, because they have to slow down so that illegals can keep up, teachers are getting frustrated having to put up with children who do not speak English, therefore are getting out of teaching, plus the illegal activities these illegals are doing in our schools! illegals should go home!!!
GOD YES!!!!!!
I teach undergraduate classes at a large, state, research university. These students should be the best and brightest in the state. However, they can't write to save their lives, they barely grasp remedial level maths, and when I try to challenge them, they whine more than my 1 year old.
This anecdotal evidence extends beyond my courses. I meet faculty from around the country and the world when I go to conferences and they always have the same story.
It is only going to get worse as universities try to increase their student counts and improve retention, because standards will continue to fall.
wrong place for your question, lady!
