Is security or background check for adjustment of status conducted based on records in the US or abroad?

Based on fingerprinting being conducted by FBI for people applying for immigrant status, Is it based on upon entry to the US only or it includes records in the home country also?If I have my previous marriage annulled in my home country before and now I am legally married to my spouse, Is it necessary for me to declare my previous marriage in my I-485 application?Any idea on this??

Answer:
Records are checked in both countries. That's part of why it takes so long. It's always better to be more honest than less honest.
Yes, if it asks about prior marriages then you must declare it. Don't try to get cute with the CIS when it comes to these matters. Honesty is always the best policy.
Both. And it is a very bad idea to lie to immigration.
