Getting a Passport?

I got a Passport about 15 years ago but have lost it. It was very difficult for me to get because of being adopted and not having my original birth certificate. I had to provide so many extra documents which I no longer have. Is there any way to find a record of my old Passport ? I don't mind paying a fee for the search but I just don't know how to go about it. I live in Indiana and I am a Citizen. I was born in Chicago. I would like to take a Cruise to Alaska next year so I know I will need a Passport. Thanks

Answer:
They will have retained a record of your original passport. Make sure to bring any pertinent information and the Identification you have. Contact the State Department for more information. If you are from the United States that is. Also as a U.S. citizen you do not need a passport to travel to Alaska.
Yes you should be able too...start with the post office and go from there.
You dont need a passport to go to Alaska, because Alaska is a state.
The place where you got your first one might have records of your passport.
Sadly there is nothing to do except get a new one. You can contact the county you were born in for a birth certificate or contact your adoption agency.
Do you remember where you were born? If you contact the hospital I am 99.9% sure they will give you some of the old information that you lost.
I just saw a story on the news about getting passports. They said it is taking over 3 months before it arrives. You should start by going to your local post office and asking if you need to locate your old one, and hopefully they will say no. Then file for a new one as soon as you can.
Just apply for a new one.
Start w/ the P.O. Think, ur considering flying into Vancouver and taking the cruise from there?

If u can't get the passport for a few months, I believe u can take a cruise that disembarks from Seattle. They'll probably stop in Van, however u want be able to get off the ship.

hope this helps -
If your parents are about.... there is a form that you can get that they sign. It certifies that you are who you are. W-2s, school records, utility bills, a library card, just simply..stuff. it will help as well.
