Those who oppose are more diverse. Those who are for illegal aliens generally only care about Mexicans and their goal to take over the USA.
Much of the debate has been focused by the medial to the Mexican illegal problem. I strongly believe it is a national security issue, those who frame it as a racist outlook are not thinking through the issue.
Those who support legal immigration naturally support a more culturally diversity. There are agreements and quotas set by the US State Department which at least tries to give a fair system to those who want to come in. These quotas determine how many and from which country immigrants will be let in. This is by definition is diverse the other option is throw open the southern border and become flooded by people from mostly South and Central America

I am 100% for legal immigration. What part of the word ILLEGAL are you people having a hard time with?
If they are here illegally then they need to be punished. I understand that they came here to try to improve their lives. but they did it illegally. Now you people want to just pardon their crimes and hand our country over to them?
I do not have a problem giving them a pathway to citizenship, but they need to pay the price. They need be tried and be found guilty and they need to pay a large fine or do a couple of years in jail. they should not be able to vote, EVER. But at least they would be able to stay here and live without fear of the law for the rest of their lives. Most of the wet-backs are bitching about having to pay a fine, but over their lifetimes they pay the coyotes much more.
And who cares about cultural and ethnic diversity? Be an American and treat everyone that is honorable the way that you would like to be treated. Everybody else.Screw them.
