How long can i stay outside united states with a green card?

how long can i stay outside united states with a green card? can i still enter the united states if i stay out for more then six months. is the green card valid for 1 year or six months.

Answer:
You can stay outside US for up to 6 months without problem

For 6 months to 1 year without Re-entry Permit you lose credit for the time you stayed in US that would count towards Residence Time requirement for naturalization

If you apply for a Re-Entry Permit before you leave, then you can remain outside US for up to 1yr without losing Residence Time

You can stay outside US for up to 2yr with a Re-Entry Permit IF your reasons are included in a limited list of approved reasons

You can apply for SB1 Reentry visa if you overstay these times for causes beyond your control.
