Seeing how the military can not be used on American Soil, and the border patrol is often out gunned who else thinks it would be a great idea to come up with a paramilitary force with more firepower than some nations to finally defend the border. I am not talking about no police force, this unit would have it all, M-249 saws, M-240's, MK-19's, 50 caliber machine guns on top of their armoured vehicles. State of the art radios to call in for air support, from helicopters armed with rockets, and mini guns. While this is all good they would have a rules of engagement that actually allowed them to do their job.

No. That would be overkill. We are not pushing back a military incursion. We are catching a bunch of Laborers that happens to have a few criminals in the mix.
As far as the Drug Runners, simple fix, allow the Border Guards to shoot out tires. As it is right now they don't have that authority. If they could shoot tires seizures would rise significantly.
