They are undercutting the USA citizens minimum wage...and then sending the current well paying jobs down.
For instance a meat packer in the 1980s made about $19 an hour...now they are lucky if they make $9...why, because illegal aliens come in and will work the same job for less, and this undercuts the USA CITIZENS pay check. We wouldn't have this problem if illegal aliens were not here.
It isn't just the agricultural jobs either...it is construction, NURSING (this INCLUDES RNs), MEDICAL, Any and ALL jobs that are here in the USA.
Illegal immigrants are not taking any jobs from Americans. Americans do not want to do those jobs!! If they did, worker shortages would NEVER happen!!! We need to accept the fact that we do not want to do hard labor for minimum wages!
I'm from Claifornia and I use to agree with you, but I only unerstand one part of our nation. I don't know whats going on in atlants, or Massachusette or any ither part of our nation except a small corner of my AMerica. I read an article where US found out a military contractor was using illegal immigrants in New ENgland. The feds arrested the President of the company (Military contractors are legally bound not to use illegal immigrants) and deported illegal immigrants. After it hit the news, hundreds of citizens line up to apply for a job. California may have a labor shortage, but does not mean it is the same through out the country.
As for how they are stealing AMerican jobs, I see it a bit different. EMployers use illegal immigrants as a leverage to reduce salaries and hold down the work condition. BBC had a report stating that illegal immigrants is part of the reason our salary did not rise with the growth of our economy.

Neither do I. The anti-immigration camp fails to come up with hard, reliable statistics to back up their claims, instead relying on "personal experiences" to justify their stances. As for the cut in hourly pay in many industries, that has more to do with the fall of unions and corporate greed than due to immigrants themselves.

You must not have look for a job in Georgia in the last year. The only jobs we have left are in restaurants for 5.15 an hour. Believe I know. Now for $5.15 it hard to buy gas and get to the job. You must be blind and hard of hearing not to be able to see and hear that they are taking our jobs. I would be happy to have a job picking fruit in the hot sun, But where I live there is no jobs like that. The labor Dept. said these jobs pay $8.51 but there isn't any in my area. (And I don't have the money to move before some one can say will just move) The illegals should go home!
Illegals allow business owners and farmers to pay a substandard wage that most americans will not work for.
If the illegals were controlled, the employers would have to pay a decent wage and then yes americans would take those jobs.
Not that many years ago crops were harvested mostly by hand and the work was done by america's youth. A better idea would be to have prison labor do the work. The jails and prisons might not be such a country club as a result.
If securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws means I have to pay more for lettuce and fruit then so be it.
