How do i go about emigrating to Brisbane, Australia? Will it be a hard process?

Im looking to move to Australia in the nxt yr and wondered how i would go about it? What kind of visa I and my partener will need? If we are allowed to buy a house and work? and if we have children will they be able to go to school over there?

Answer:
To be eligible to migrate to Australia you will need to show that you are aged under 45, are a qualified in a trade or profession and have recent skilled work experience.

Depending on your occupation the process can take anywhere from 12 months to 2 years or even longer.
I migrated from Ohio to Brisbane. It is very difficult and time consuming, but can be done. You haven't provided many specifics in your question. If your partner is Australian you can move here as long as you follow the immigration procedure. If you simply want to up and move here it is much more complicated. Much depends on your age, skills, etc. If you are over 45, forget it unless you are a doctor. If you have a criminal record, don't bother. You must pass a health check. They check EVERYTHING. I'm both American and Aussie citizens. I spend time in both countries. It all depends on what qualifications you have. In Australia if you have any of the Occupations on The Demand List and you apply for permanent residency, then your application is given priority if you apply as a Skilled Migrant.

Of course, trying to get PR by marrying an Aussie, then the process will be longer and more difficult. Your best bet would to to migrate under the Skilled Migrants Programs.

When you apply as a PR as the principal applicant, you are allowed to include your kids and spouse on the application. If you get PR, they also get it, too. Once you land in Oz and validate your new PR visa, then you can work wherever you want, live where you want to and your kids can also be registered for school.

If you try to immigrate illegally, then you end up in a lot of trouble. I noticed that the OZ immigration officers are stricter than US immigration officers and immigration violators in OZ tend to be deported a lot quicker than in the USA.
