Why can't the National Guard arrest illegal aliens?

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits members of the military from enforcing domestic laws. The law would need to be repealed or Bush would have to declare a state of emergency.
Ask President George W. Bush,he sent the National Guard to help secure the border. he forgot to give the guards the power to arrest illegal aliens, they just there to watch and report back to border patrol.
They don't have the authorization to. It seems Bush only wants to make it look like he is securing the border, at the same time try not to hurt Mexico's feelings.

They could if they gave them permission to. I think I heard they were going to allow the National Guard in Arizona to catch and detain them. It's not doing much good if they aren't allowed to do anything but count them as they cross.
Many illegals are cleverer than the guards, and the other thing is the corruption in many of those guards, they accept money from the traffickers.

its a bunch of political bs.. they should be able to do so, but they are there more for a show then to do their job. I wish they would have the power to arrest illegals and have them deported back.. but they actually get in trouble if they do this and its sad to see the guard just be used as they are!
I don't think they are authorized. Just like the Minute Men, they can't arrest the illegal alien criminals. That's the job of the border patrol.

The national guard does not have the authority, nor the training to do so. They have not been through the academy and are not versed in immigration laws. Their only purpose at this point is to support Border Patrol Agents in the field. Bush is not about to allow this to be changed. He has to have somewhere to go when he is out of office.
Because Bushco is playing both sides. He is having ICE do a FEW raids...in 2004 and 2005 raids went down something like 200% where there were only a few of them done...and even fewer illegal aliens apprehended, which is odd directly after 9/11 you would have thought that should have been one of the FIRST things that they looked at. Now all of a sudden Bush is saying he wants to secure the border but isn't giving them the money to do it and even have slapped 3 people who actually were doing their job to protect these United States PRISON TIME...Yes, the two border agents and also a deputy that was protecting these US. All the while, Bush is kissing the Mexico Presidents @ss.
Why is he doing this? Because he is playing the American people for dummies. Bush WANTS the North American Union to go through so he and his buddies can bring down minimum wage and destroy American's middle class by sending many of these United States jobs south.
Why would George W Bush want that. He know`s that if he does anything to stop the Mexican trash from coming over here from Mexico. That the Mexican Government will not sell him and his rich friend`s the Oil that Mexico has. And that will make him and his rich friend`s mad and it will hurt their feeling`s. So i say send the illegal Mexican back or put them in jail that is where they belong any way. And before anyone say`s that i am wrong or that i am a raciest. I want you to stop and think about this and ask your self this. How many American`s that have paid taxes all there live`s. And now that they are down on there luck they
have to dig in the trash can for food. And they have to go with out the thing`s that they need just to stay alive because our Government will not help them But our Government will all-way`s help out the Mexican Illegals that pay nothing in taxes.
