How to work and live in america from the uk?
Answer:
there are many ways first thing is what skills/qualifications do you have. My Mother wishes to go (God knows why) and she said it's going to be quite easy for her as she has a nursing Degree of some kind and that they take English Key workers without too much fuss. The truth is you could just go there for holiday and not come back, just keep extending your VISA and try and find a company that will sponsor you over there and pay for your right to work there (good luck with that!)
Marrige is one as well there a quite a few Americans here why not seduce one or trade passports yours for hers? I know someone that has done that before. (we're still waiting to here if it will work though)
Good luck if you go, just answer me why you want to go?
It's quite a long commute for you...
Its a shame what with current technology available that anyone really has to live anywhere other than the country of their birth (obviously I am not talking about manual labour, just electronic work).
I know little about the immigration requirements of the USA, but if your work can be done over the Net, as a starter it may be possible to work from the UK for the company in question in order to facilitate your eventual transfer to the States. May be worth putting that too them, they may then be able to sort all requirements for Immigration Control for you.
WHY?????
To work in America, besides the obvious requirements [skill set, qualifications, etc.], you'll need to get a job with a company in America.
The company ultimately files an H1-B petition for you in order to get you a Temporary Work Permit. This lasts for 3 years, renewable for another 3-year period. You may, in the meantime, apply for a Permanent Resident Card - Green Card. If you get the GC, you have a right to work and live in the U.S. permanently.
You can try to get a job with really nice companies such as Microsoft, Google, KPMG, etc. They usually don't care where you're coming from and are willing to give you a chance if you impress them.
It's a difficult road you're trying to walk. I hope you have the gumption to actually see it through. Best of Luck!
