I heard Italy is not accepting migrant workers at this time? When will they begin to accept them again?

I am trying to go back over to Italy as a US citizen of 20 years old, as an aupair, but more just to live with this family that sees me as a part of their family...I know that I can go for 3 months and then get it extended to six months, but then I would have to leave after the six months...I have read that I can't spend more than 6 months of a 12 month period in Italy...I want to live with this family for a long time...at least some years...They're so special to me...I have heard that Italy is not accepting migrant workers for work visas at this time, but that usually they can get work visas for some years...does anyone know more about this or have any ideas for me...I have tried everything...even applying for dual citizenship..which won't work because I am off by one year! :( Anyway, anyone that can help me, I would be so grateful to you...Any advice or information is so appreciated at this point...as I am leaving July 6th with a one way ticket and need to figure something out!

Answer:
Look for the different kind of visa you can get and what's the requirements: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp...
and this site about Italian citizenship: http://www.myitaliancitizenship.com/inde...
If you speak Italian, better looking straight on Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs website (as the first link, but here the page is in Italian only)
http://www.esteri.it/ita/5_30_208_318.as...

Then, Ministero degli Interni page about immigration: http://www.interno.it/mininterno/export/...

You should also check these sites: http://www.governo.it/governoinforma/dos...

I dont know if this is the same situation, but my dad's family had a jordanian friend who was supposed to leave, but he married my aunt so he got to stay, and after things calmed down they got divorced (marriage was just a loophole in the government's policy); however, i dont know if italy has the same situation. if you get married, then they might send your wife over here! or it could be that you are already married, or they wont let you marry, or you just dont want to...but hey, that jordanian dude is now a us citizen and is a multi-millionare
