Why is immigration an issue for the health care plan to pass in California?

I would suspect that Californians do not want to pay for illegals to have healthcare at the expense of tax payers.
Probably for the same reasons I hope it isn't passed nation-wide:
I don't want to help those who don't want to help themselves by not putting in a day's work like the rest of us. I'm not talking about the medically disabled. I'm talking about those who are able, and won't.
Because illegals don't pay taxes, but if allowed to get access to the healthcare they will add a tax burden.
It's because California is the state with one of the largest number of illegal immigrants. If they pass the healthcare plan it would mean that even illegals would benefit from it. Legal residents and citizens obviously feel that it is not fair that their taxes that are being collected legally are paying for some illegal's person's healthcare.
It seems unfair to most because many illegal aliens working illegally are being paid on a cash basis, so many don't pay taxes, so why should they have to benefit from being paid by legal residents and citizens as well as taxes taken from those with legal work permits?
My husband works hard to support OUR family. OUR tax money should not go to somebody who has and is continually breaking the law. Why should we pay for these people? They break our laws by coming here illegally and WE should pay for their health care?? No fricken way!!!
If this goes through the flood gates will open once Mexico and the other Central American countries figure out they can have free American health care with no questions asked.
We are sending our boarder patrol agents to jail for shooting drug runners in the *** and we are now going to be possibly giving illegals FREE health care. That is just wrong!!!!!
Because we're paying for your health care,welfare, Medicaid and Medical. The people in this country have worked all their lives putting into Social Security and paying taxes, for their security, not yours. That's money they have earned through hard work and sacrifices. Not to give to others who have never put a dime into preparing for their own future. Our Social Security funds are depleting and if we don't stop supporting everybody else we will all be living on the streets.
Go to any county health department (or welfare office) with a large immigrant hispanic population and you will see it is filled with illegals getting free services. Mainly women and children. They collect benefits while the man is at work. Something us native born americans would not be allowed to do. But they get away with it because the interpreter is normally a staunch advocate for her people and will coach them on what to say and do to receive benefits.
Do you think maybe it is because the healthcare system is being bankrupted due to being over burdened because of treating illegal immigrants at the hospitals and county facilities? You should check the number of hospitals that have closed in California because of it. It isn't only California that is experiencing the problem either. The other states healthcare systems are having a crisis because of it. What this means for the taxpayers is higher taxes and higher healthcare, not to mention higher insurance rates.
Because they want us to cover the cost of health insurance for people here illegally. We already cover it for children of those here illegally who claim to make less than $40,000 per year, this is above that. We have the best 'benefit package' for illegals in the country, and it is drawing more and more illegal immigrants who have children and further ruin our schools. Even if insuring them would be less costly than having them go to emergency rooms at our expense, it adds to the benefits they come for, and their being here costs LA County alone $1 billion a year. The state of California paid $10 billion last year in benefits to illegals, and this would add to it. $400,000,000 of mediCal (state medicaid) was paid out to illegals just last year according to an article that came out over the holidays.
Remove those illegally here from being beneficiaries, and check legal right to be here for benefits as we do with drivers' licenses, and the bill would fly through.
Because then the State of California would be forced to pick up the expenses for the Illegals even more than they now do at the expense of the legal California citizens.
