Consider and Comment on this Immigration Case Scenario?
Imagine this -- big ring of coyotes brings couple from South America. Once in US, they hold couple (along with 30 or more others) in a house, against their will for over a month until one finally escapes and notifies police. While being held by coyotes, they are starved, forced to drink from toilets, tortured, degraded, forced to perform sexual acts. What do you think should happen to the immigrant victims of the coyotes?
The US government has an interest in prosecuting the coyotes, correct? They need witnesses to prosecute. If the victims testify, they are putting themselves in danger if they return to their countries. Do you think they should be allowed to remain legally?
This is based on a real case and this happens all the time.

Something they should have thought about BEFORE paying someone to illegally bring them to our country.
Criminals should not be rewarded with the "prize" they were seeking when breaking the law.If I help someone rob a bank and then testify against them,I'm not allowed to keep the money we stole.

The victims should be held as material witnesses until the trial is over and then they should be deported.
One is ultimately responsible, for what ever peril they chose to place themselves in. This is also based on real life experience.
Not as a regular program, but if prosecutors want to cut such deals, they should be able to.
This reminds me of a movie called "El Norte" - everyone who thinks illegals are thugs or are rationally scheming to break the law should get this movie from Netflix and see it. A dose of reality is very much in order today.
The illegals put themselves in that position so I don't feel a bit sorry for them and I say SEND THEM BACK!
This does happen and no one can deny it, but who is responsible? They should be depoted because that is the law of the land. They put themselves in this situation and though it sounds cold, that is the truth. A bad decision gives them no right to legal status.
The coyotes are guilty of slavery, kidnapping, torture, rape... They should be imprisoned. Illegals who were victimized should be granted a visa that automatically expires after their testimony, and they should be shipped home.
True, they were victimized horribly, but they paid the coyotes expressly for the purpose of sneaking them into the United States against our laws. They are still illegal.
Someone should educate the illegals about what could happen to them if they come here illegally . That's the chances you take when you cross into another country illegally . Stay home and you won't run that risk . No one made them come here .

They made a conscience decision to employ the coyote in the first place. Sympathy can be found in the dictionary.

No, I do not think they should be able to remain here legally. They were breaking the law and need to go right back home. I don't feel sorry for them i am sure they are well aware of the risk they take when dealing with these coyotes. Both the illegal and the coyote are breaking the law and should be punished accordingly.
When the illegals decide to allow themselves to be smuggled into our country they are aware of risks, and the rewards for doing so. The illegals should be sent back, they have to take responsibly for their own decisions. If we have between 12-25 million illegals in the country their are not victims they along with the coyotes are law breakers. It is a very painfull lesson, and it hard to read that story, but where will all this end

Another fact, coyotes are paid handsomely and yes they the illegals have their life savings invested in trying to get here whether individually or several relatives. But to claim that they are beggars. Is pure crappy info; Which is why I personally am getting involved once and for all. In other words don't you think that if they were just here to cause harm that their own race would be the ones to deal with it as it really is inside prison's and the streets!
