Why do illegal immigrants qualify for Welfare?

My parents were born and raised in Mexico. When they came here they never had their hand out to any govt assistance. They worked hard and taught us values, Welfare would be a big embarrassment for them and for us. Unlike Zorro, my parents have a lot of pride and taught us that it's all about education. I guess Zorro doesn't know any better, he probably sees his mom sitting on the couch eating her hot cheetos and watching t.v. waiting for her welfare check, so you can;t blame the poor guy for thinking welfare is great.

I don't understand it either. The whole welfare system is fu*ked up...
they qualify because they are the "victims"! or they play that role and our government believes them. i say the latter. using the race card and having somebody else's SSN are the ticket to milking the benefits out if this country these days!! B.S!!

People are people. People who need help deserve it. Citizens deserve it, but so do immigrants.
When my dad came to America from Vietnam he had nothing. Basically the sandals on his feet and the clothes on his back. Do you know how hard it is to make money? The value differences are huge! You can work your *** off for months in Vietnam and still not get 200 dollars. Sometimes people barely make a dollar a day. You can work your *** off for years and come here, and you're poorer than the poorest. People are grateful for the help they receive, and they use it wisely. Its not like they stop working hard: My dad worked his butt off the moment he stepped onto American soil, and hasn't stopped since. He helped my mom get here, and then raised 4 kids.
Look, I don't think its fair that some citizens don't get welfare, but everyone deserves to get help if they need it: it doesn't matter what country you're from.

Illegals do not get Public Assistance period. There is a table for that. However, their children do qualify, especially if born in the U.S.
You can report to your state attorney general if you believe this is happening.
Officially, illegal immigrants are not eligible for welfare -- a few may defraud welfare, but so do some citizens.
With a national unemployment rate of only 4.5% -- I don't think immigrants are holding you back from increasing your earning potential. There are numerous avenues through which you can improve your life.
Blatantly blaming immigrants for your apparent lack of effort is very similar to a black man or woman blaming whites for all the problems they face -- even without making an effort to rectify these problems.
Welfare is meant to keep you afloat while you look for job or other options -- It should not be seen as an entitlement, and just because some low-lifes choose to abuse it, isn't a good reason for you to "envy" them -- a person on welfare is stuck in deep mud, as far as I am concerned.
With some hard work you can get better employment and/or you can self employ.
Hold your head high, set goals and work towards them, and forget about the free things, if you want to succeed in this world -- and please avoid TV propaganda -- The people who feed you this propaganda are all millionaires, and they will incite you to hate and fight your fellow poor, so as to maintain the status-quo.

Officially they don't qualify BUT because many states have not adopted a policy to deal with illegal immigrants and prohibit taxpayer funded programs to non citizens it continues to happen anyway, some of the border states who are more proficient when dealing with these issues simply because they have had years to adjust have official policies that match federal law but many states still have not made a distinction between citizens, immigrants and illegal immigrants so abuses to the system are occurring on a daily basis. Certain counties in my state have taken on the issue and passed laws denying tax funded programs to illegal immigrants but as a "state" we still have not developed a policy to stop the abuse of taxpayers funds and special interest groups are fighting the counties that HAVE taken a tough stance against illegal immigrants.
Its up to your state so contact your STATE officials.

they don't qualify? like under the children's state health insurance increase the Senate Finance committee approved this week which would give free health insurance to legal immigrants (the catch is that EVERY child is statutorily 'presumed' to be legal) if their income is under $80,000 per year (and a statement by the parent is conclusive evidence of income.)
Sure, the statute SAYS 'legal' but for those living here daily faking being legal, why would they stoop at doing the same one more time?
I guess through their children, not having done it, I wouldn't really know.
