My fiance is American and lives in the United States. I live in Canada. She is now visiting me her visit will be finished in May. She wants desperately to move here to work and perhaps go to college, and for us to start our lives together here in Canada. What kind of a visa do you think our situation is suitable for? Our we allowed to do her paper work from here while she's here or does she have to go back to her home in the US to fill them out. Can we just go to Buffalo and do it from there and have her come back here until its time for her to go home after her visit. We just dont want to be apart for a long time again. Please help us out..
Answer:
You will have to get married first, then she can apply as a spouse. If you get married in Canada, she can apply to extend her stay in Canada and apply as a spouse from within to get her Permenant Resident status.
There's a great Yahoo group that can help you. The members are mostly Canadian-American couples who are applying as spouses. They can give advice, support, and walk you through filling out the Immigration forms. The URL is:
