Now that the immigration bill crashed and burned,Senators like Lott and Feinstein are blaming talk radio?

They have to blame someone to save face.
What they are saying is the people are too stupid to understand this issue and were blindly influenced by talk radio "hysteria". Now they are trying to bring back the Fairness Doctrine so they get equal time on the radio. Of course THEY won't speak with "hysteria" but with "reasoned arguments". They actually think that they could have gotten this shameful, disastrous bill passed if only they would have had equal time on the radio. How did people of this low quality and stupidity ever become our Senators? It must be because they are selected to run for office by special interest groups, not to represent the people, but to blindly do whatever the special interests tell them to do.
And, no, I don't listen to talk radio either.

if you wanna claim the bill's failure as a victory, go ahead and do so. but the victory was over the selfish businessmen who wanted more money by continuing to pay illegal immigrants dirt for their services.
hmm...this is such a tough topic..on one side you have illegal immigrants wanting nothing more than a better life for themselves as well as their families. Like this last guy said they are being payed next to dirt in these jobs. No American would even like the field job to begin with. instead of looking for a job-any job- they become homeless and beggars..on the other hand there are the Americans who believe that immigrants are taking over the jobs in the U.S., while it is true deporting everyone is so not the answer..not only because they have worked hard in those jobs but because it would have such a negative impact over the economy. now in regards to the whole talk radio thing, no the media should not be blamed. While it does affect our way of thinking to an extent,i t is us as human beings that take sides and do something with what we believe is right.

I don't know who Lott is but I do know Feinstein and she is a complete witch.
I hope voters in California have finally learned how corrupted she is and will vote her out of office in 2008.

I dont know about talk radio and illegal immigration, but what I do know is that Im tired of talk radio talking about the "liberal media" when MOST of the media tends to be moderate to conservative on most issues.
while tv media tends to be very liberal, talk radio tends for the most part to be very conservative. truth is that talk radio and the internet was responsible for getting the news out on exactly what congress is doing. Lott and Feinstein hate it because they were not able to get away with sneaking one over on us.
Media should not be blamed for the non-approval of the Immigration Bill. There is freedom of expression because democracy is still alive.
I think any 'fairness doctrine' to require the 'other side' to be given should be applied first to those media with the larger budgets which can best withstand the chill of stating opinion only when you are willing to also give airtime to the 'other side'. Most television news and the NY Times spring immediately to mind.
