Is anybody else infuriated about the racist attitudes towards Mexican and other Latin people nowadays?

I mean, seriously. You know what, if you have a beef with illegal immigration, TARGET THE COMPANIES WHO EXPLOIT MEXICANS. Our companies go to Mexico, taking away American jobs--the COMPANIES take them away, not the Mexicans--and pay them peanuts. Then they come here, desperate and starving, and American companies here employ them over Americans. Why? BECAUSE THEY MAKE A BIGGER PROFIT BY EXPLOITING THE ABILITY TO PAY THESE PEOPLE BELOW MINIMUM WAGE. It is the fault of EMPLOYERS that this is happening. If you were poorer than poor, you'd do what you had to to survive as well.
May I also mention that this country is FOUNDED on illegal immigration? The founding fathers weren't born here. Nor the European immigrants who built up our cities. And let's not forget what we did to African people... We had the same attitudes towards the Chinese a century ago that we have towards Mexicans now--they're good enough to work for us, but not good enough to live beside us. It's shameful.

Answer:
I agree with you completely. We spent years and years practically begging illegal immigrants to cross our border and now everyone wants to get all up in arms about it. Our country is to blame for this "problem" by not supporting our neighbor to the south. We should be sending troops THERE to help the Mexican government crack down on the druglords (which is a great thing they are attempting). If illegal immigration is such a problem, why aren't we helping to make Mexico a better, stronger and more stable country? Then they would not loose their hard-working family people who just want to make a better lives for themselves. It's sad, I had to watch as hundreds of members of my church (Catholic) were ripped away from their families because suddenly the government decided it was time to correct their mistake.

Then I hear it's time for Americans to take their jobs back... Like we were all waiting in line to clean the machinery which seperates beef. Immigration is the soul of our country. My family immigrated from England 200 years ago, does that mean I should go back where I came from? Being American is NOT a birthright, it is a right which every human being on the face of the planet should be afforded, if they want it, and are just. Eliminate illegal immigration by making it LEGAL to immigrate. God bless my Latino brethren or anyone else who wants to come join the land of the free.
well, yea. i have felt it on this site, but never really in person.

but to be honest, the hate is coming from both sides. i've seen the hate fly from all angles at all kinds of people.
I'm not because I don't like mexicans.
You're 100% correct. Much of the dialogue here is hypocrisy at its best. Everyone has a right to seek a better life devoid of attachments of vague notions of legality.
its just a way republicans can scare ppl to vote for them after the 2006 elections they are scared of what is going 2 happen in the 2008 elections
This country has a history of people coming here legally and building up our cities etc. The key word is legal. there are legal ways to immigrate from Mexico. Some people do actually.
No I'm not infuriated at the way illegal immigrants are treated.
Go ahead and hoot and holler about it. The point is that history repeats its self. We go through this about every 75 to 100 years. The only thing that changes is the nationality that is currently on the outs with the ins.
I was stunned by the racist attitudes paraded in our American streets during the PRO-illegal rallies.
No.. because I understand that the "if you oppose crime you're a racist" angle is all that the pro-crime scum, such as yourself, has left.

Yes, businesses that hire these criminals need dealt with. But one group of people engaging in crime does NOT justify another groups crimes. BOTH are guilty and need dealt with.
What gets me is how many of the people complaining about illegals are profiting from them...
Illegal immigration and racism are two completely different issues.
Illegal immigrants are criminals that should not be here.
Americans that hire illegals are criminals also and need to be punished accordingly.
Racism is wrong in any way shape and form I agree. But illegal immigrants are the ones that give Mexicans a bad name.
Some people think the racism just started. It was going on before I was born and I am 58.If you have never seen it in person move to Dallas,Tx. I guarantee you will see it .Especially if you have brown skin.Just go visit you do not have to move there. there is racism even in the small towns around Dallas. Guess what they are not subtle nor do they try to hide it. You are going to get full blast.

Some people do not realize illegals are here because of racism in Mexico from white Mexicans.

Afrotina, sometimes I feel like I am standing up here alone. Thanks for your support.

Spirit, you got that right.
Now we should appologize to an illegal for being here illegaly, how about the hundreds if not thousands of US citizens victims of illegal criminals,of which constitute 25% of the prison population, which by the way is costing the taxpayers of this country $40000 a year for each illegal inmate to house and maintained
No. They come here illegally, have a ton of kids, refuse to learn English, live off welfare, and think that because they're not citizens, they don't need to follow our laws. Do they have car insurance or legal driver's licenses? NO. I am sick of people defending illegal immigrants, no matter what country they're from. It's a crime, against the law, and it should be dealt with. The only Hispanics I have respect for are the ones that come here legally and for goodness sake's, learn English! You could not go to any other country in the world to live and not attempt to learn to communicate.

WELL SAID, JUDI!
Our country was founded on LEGAL immigration. The reason that people complain so much about illegal immigrants is that they come here and have babies and then the government has to pay for healthcare for those babies. They also go to the emergency rooms and the hospitals have to treat them, but they never pay. They don't pay taxes because they're illegal, but they allow legal residents to claim their children (who were born here so they have social security numbers) on their taxes for a share of the refund. It's not really the jobs...a lot of illegal immigrants do the jobs that other people really wouldn't want to do. Who wants to cut yards all day in 100 degree temperatures, or work as a nanny for $80 a week?

I don't see how targeting the companies that bring jobs to Mexico would help cut down on illegal immigration. People come here from Mexico because there are no jobs there. They're tired of living in one-room shacks with dirt floors and no electricity. I think giving jobs to Mexico is better than supporting all of the illegal immigrants.

It's funny...the Hispanics in my city have the worst attitude toward the Mexicans...I've heard more racial slurs against Mexicans from Hispanics here than I've ever heard from anyone else. Even the people who've come from Mexico legally look down on the illegals. It's like they're afraid that people won't be able to tell the difference between them and the illegals.
i know what you mean..i hear racist stuff all the time. not only about folks of latin origin, of course. any racist attitudes disgust me. but there seems to have been increasing hate towards mexicans (or what people think are mexicans, as they might actually be colombian, salvadorian, honduran etc), not to mention the cast system amongst people from spanish speaking countries (even more sickening!). and if i hear one more time that mexicans are lazy, i'm gonna throw up and immediately after wiping my face punch the person who said it. i work in an urgent care and the folks who are most hard working (i.e. come in with an asphalt burn after working with it for hours first) are generally of mexican origin. and drug free may i mention (as we do many drug screens with work comp injuries). i just believe every person needs to be treated with respect, legally or illegally arrived. people have souls and families to worry about, no matter where they are from.
I hear ya... I kinda agree with the guy above who says that the hate seems to be coming from both sides. I definitely see it around me. I feel torn because I do see both sides of the issue. I wonder if there's ever going to be a time where we see eye to eye on this issue. I still think that a 'legal' temporary migrant work permit might be the ticket, like when we built the railroads and hired 'braceros' to come here and work legally for a period time then return home to Mexico having earned a decent amount of money and having helped us achieve the feat of constructing our railroad.

:) PS people need to stop talking crap about each other here though, when answering a comment. mytend.com isn't going to change the world or how other people think, as much as we'd like it to. On the off chance that it does, saying demeaning things will make it less likely that the change will be in the crap-talker's favor.
I agree. I've always thought the Mexican ethnicity was nice to be around. And as for illegals... their work ethic seems to be excellent. The actually would most likely be GOOD additions to our citizenry. They just need to come legally, so that they are not a drain to our border towns AND so that their employers are forced to abide by the same Worker's Rights with them as they would have to with us.

I also agree with you that our focus should be on the EMPLOYERS who hire them rather than the immigrant. The ability to fine companies employing illegals is already in place with laws. However, while Bush has been in the White House, the frequency/number of those fines has been only a fraction of what they were under Clinton. Meanwhile, the Republicans love to rally around the immigration issue. But it is a farce, because it is their rich business owners who employ them and rich homeowners who use their services as house servants, maids, nannies, and grounds keepers. They can afford to pay real wages. their greed just gets in the way.
Nothing like falling back on the old standby, racism. That the citizens of this country don't want to continue paying ever increasing taxes to support people who come to this country illegally has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with our rights as American citizens. Some of the fault lies with the companies that hire these illegal criminals. I, like most Americans want to see them punished. However, I also want the government to take advantage of the tendency of the illegals to march, demanding rights they have not earned. Next time they march, I want the government to mobilize all the military units in the United States, all police and law enforcement personnel and anyone who wishes to support our laws and have them escorted straight down to the border. The problems of Mexico and other Latin American countries are not the problem of this country. Go back to where they came from, apply for entry and wait their turn. When they arrive legally, I'll gladly welcome them.
I blame the corrupt Mexican government / culture. They have the means and funds to solve this problem virtually overnight. They lack the will. They don't want our illegal dark skinned Mexican immigrants either because of the same type of prejudice black people in the U.S. suffered in the 50's. The Mexican elite are the true racists in this predicament. They are predominately Spanish (from Spain i.e white). Our illegal Mexican immigrants are predominately indian/black.
Yes, the businesses who hire the illegal aliens DO bare some responsibility, and should be fined/loose their business. BUT the animosity that they are feeling right now has been brought onto them by THEIR actions. No one told them to ILLEGALLY CROSS THE BORDER! Nor did they tell them to march in OUR streets carrying the MEXICAN flag. Nor did anyone tell them to take down the USA flag on our Government buildings and replace it with the Mexican flag. They did this all on their own.

Americans are tired of being stepped on and want the immigration rules obeyed. You DO realize that there is a REASON for the immigration rules, don't you?
Yes I am angry at racism of all people and use to help people file EEO complaints a while back. But why are you stopping at just Mexicans. Isn't the other races deserving to have the same consideration. I question people who say they are against racism but focus at one race. I've seen so many people use the fight against racism as a means to make a racist attack. White supremicist are now saying that they are fighting for equality of the Caucasians. That the other race are taking advantage of them. I 've seen Jews attaack Muslims saying they are defending themselves. I've seen people use racism to forward the agenda of their own race. THe thing is that I don't understand how people call our country racist towards Mexicans, because we want to stop illegal immigration. Half of all legal immigrants are Mexicans. If we discriminate , we discriminate for Mexicans.
Mexico this Mexico that. Not all the illegal immigrants are Mexican. Yet that's what youd think after listening to all the rhetoric. I dont really care what happens with that immigration bill, but I do know that IF it came down to enforcement of immigration laws, LEGAL hispanics would be scrutinized and racially profiled to the millionth degree.
Another bogus race card ploy.
I am infuriated with the number of Mexicans who cling to the race card instead of facing reality.
The reality is if they are attracting hate and anger from Americans, it is due to their own actions.
Blame La Raza, MEChA, flag burning, illegal immigration, failure to speak English and demanding rights they have not earned.
I subscribe your view, but it is more of stupidity blend with fear.

Outsourcing and the subtle call for illegal immigrants to go and work to the States. (Those companies may not "imported" them explicitly but letting the word around:"we need workers, do you know anybody...? the more cheap employees, the merrier...) are responsible of the current situation.
Racism is an expected consequence, If immigration is not in the political agenda, Illegal immigrants are a "necessary evil" you look away, don't think about how what you consume it is produce, as long as is cheap. (Immigrants are like "Kleenex" you need them to blow your nose, and you throw them away afterwards, don't even think twice).

Why it is better to Tax/fine these company's?
They cause the problem, they can be identified, they are taking advantage of the situation, and they have the money to pay for the "extra cost" of immigrants health and education.

an Analogy:
Who should be punish..? A ten year old prostitute in Thailand or the tourist that goes there and pays to have sex with her...?
