IT probably is inevitable, however, it will be a travesty of justice...those here legally should be livid.
I say reopen some closed military bases and round 'em all up...put them to work breaking rocks and see how well they like it here. Make them work off there debt to America with blood and sweat...then make them go back to Mexico with an RID chip implanted in there heads so we can track them down. And, when they finally decide to do things the right and legal way we remove the chip and give them all the benefits of being an American citizen (including the unfortunate privelege of paying taxes).

No amnesty. Secure the border, go after employers that hire illegals and round up as many as we can for deportation.

No, it's not fair, obviously. 'Scooter' got his sentence commutted - that's not even as generous as Amnesty - and he's getting crucified.
Americans (such as the native born children of illegals) aren't living here illegally. Illegal Aliens are living here illegally, and, due to our politicians willful non-enforcement of our immigration laws, many have done so for a long time. It's unfortunate, but, however long a problem exists, it's still a good idea to try to solve it. Abolitionists didn't let the long history of slavery stop them, for instance.
The many illegals residing in America need to go home (or, in those few cases where it's aproriate, be granted Asylum). Getting them to do that requires stepped up enforcement, particularly against those illicit employers who exploit them.
As the illegals number of illegals is reduced, more legal immigrants can be allowed in.

I do believe a majority of Americans would hold their noses and keep their mouths closed if... the government actually secured the borders. Not pretend to seal the borders. Not temporarily seal the borders. Not pledge to do the job. I'm talking about sealed tight and protected with whatever force it takes to keep them sealed.
If that were done, and the immigration system modified to favor immigrants with needed skills, I think most Americans would reluctantly approve of an amnesty.

call your Senators. They are giving 3 million amnesty in the Farm Bill. That is just the beginning. Our government thinks we are sleeping, wake back up America. In Arizona the border laws were being enforced, no illegals were getting in. Today Homeland Security CUT their budget in half.
If it was true amnesty then it wouldn't be fair. Paying a fine and going through background checks is not amnesty. Since it is not anything close to amnesty then it is fair. In a couple of years when they tackle this problem again i hope they legalize all the hard-working non- criminal illegals. As a matter of fact I think that is EXACTLY what is going to happen.
