Why do so many people confuse legal immigration with illegal immigration?
Answer:
I think stupidity is the cause.
"Why Are People That Support Immigration Laws Called Racist?
I know many legal immigrants that want undocumented workers removed from the U.S.. "

"Any time that one side does not want to allow the other side to present it's point of view they paint it in a bad light. That way when the view comes to light, no one wants to take a look because they have already been prejudiced to it. I'm not a racist. I am a Democrat. I think undocumented worked should be returned to sender. It is completely unfair to the people who have waited for years to legally come to America."
I don't think they confuse them, they know the difference. They're just prejudice against immigrants in general.
because their pronounce almost the same
Because they are stupid.
They're lumped together because it's an attempt by those who support illegal aliens to try to make the opposition look prejudiced or uncaring by saying that they hate all immigrants.
They are not confused. They choose to ignore our laws. Plain and simple.
RACISM just as you are saying Citizens or Americans only you racist!
Are talking semantics?...how could they be confused?
Most people do not like the presence of anybody that is a foreigner, just cause they are from a different race. Hey could you please answer my question that i posted, just for fun, please?
People don't confuse it. It's a liberal ploy to lump us in as xenophobes and racists. Every discussion that I have entered on this subject my views have been twisted but lets get something straight, legal or illegal they should not attempt to push their culture or language on us.
I havn't noticed any confusion between the two really =/
I think America has a certain level of respect to those that can follow the rules nicely and learn english. The only other time when I see them lumped together are when someone says something racist, or hates immigrants in general cause the key word is in fact "illegal"...
I don't think they are confused. They are attempting to take the emphasis off of legal or illegal and make it a race issue. This gives their argument credibility. After all, who wants to support a "racist" view? You are correct that this is not a "race" issue, or an anti-immigration issue. It is simply a question of right and wrong, and legal an illegal. No one is trying to deport all immigrants. Just those that are here illegally.
My sentiments exactly! Most of the people on this site that were considered "cons" have stated adamantly that the problem is ILLEGAL aliens, not legal immigration. The disrespect issue is one I have taken great offense to as well. There is never a shortage of stupidity in this world, it's a shame we can't tax it!
They choose to. They want to make anti-illegals look like morons.
my people came to America in 1796. i have no problem with anyone who wants to come to the U.S. the right way. i do have a problem with the people who come here by sneaking across the border. these people are breaking the law. yes we have laws on imigration. george busch and his crew have their own agenda on this issue. i fell busch should be acountable to the people of this country for all his actions. i won't hold my breath.
They're not confusing them. They are trying to blend them in. They have had great teachers in D.C.
They are not confused... They just don't want to admit that there is a problem. I bet if the government were to pass a bill for illegal alien supporters to be the ones to soley take care of these criminals, they would complain & eventually change their minds on the matter!
because many americans arae ignorant or they do know and are racist. although most people i know can tell the difference and are fine with imigrants.
Frankly, I've never heard anyone here in the US say they want to get rid of all immigrants, nor have I heard them say they wanted to get rid of people migrating here (except those who have overstayed their visas). Heck, a huge part of the US is made up of immigrants and since way back before the 1800's. If you want to get technical, and since the US was founded by europeans, that means everyone here (except for the American Indians) were immigrants.
I would submit that no one really confuses the two. However the pro immigration folks sing and dance, twist and turn it into a confusion by labeling all those against their stance as a racist. They realize that is not the issue but in a weak effort they try to make it a race issue. It's a standard liberal ploy that is used against any foe for every liberal issue.
i dont want to offend anyone so please read carefully

The majority of the illegals come here to work. I support them. I do not care if they are illegal. Most of the illegals are brown skin Indios from Mexico or further south.. They are hated on both sides of the border by white people. In the USA only white Americans are against the illegals. Read it again I did not say "all" .Most of the people that support the illegals are good people and or Christians..I am not trying to change your mind. There is nothing you can say to change mind.
They do not want to admit that they are wrong.
Of course it's our laws that are wrong
Of course it's our laws that are racist
Go figure.
