An even more economical solution would be to let the cranky citizens go down by the border and get some target practice on those drug smugglers and other criminals
mines would be very expensive and we would have to replant them periodically
there is also such a thing as a mine detector so its a bad solution overall
terrorists can enter anyway they want since there is no way to tell if they are terrorists or not just by looking

I am against illegal immigration, but I don't feel they need to die in such a drastic fashion!
Why not instead take that money and hire more border patrol agents, allow the city/state law enforcement to detain illegals when they find them, and ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS?
I think that might be a more humane way of doing things. . .

last I remember, the 911 terrorists came in from Canada.
Lye and a few extra rounds are a hellalot cheaper than mines. Plus some of the people that patrol the border use their dogs and I wouldn't want to see a dog hurt. They are far more important than the criminals coming across our border.
Maybe better to have a 200 yard no mans land. scrape it bare, plant poison so nothing grows, mounted horse patrols every mile, and a dozen or so helicopter gunships on call.....also American citizens should have the legal right to stop and detain these invaders, maybe even a bounty on illegals would be a good idea.
Lets see...a country is invaded. That country places land mines to protect that country. Hummm...why not? Maybe that country should recall all its service members from other countries (korea, germany, france, japan...) and place them on its borders with orders to shoot to kill?
