Why are there 1000s of major named brand stores and malls in mexico if they are so poor?

All of you, just do not know nothing about México. Probably only the old cliche of a small town and a sleepy man beside a cactus.
México is a big country, we have a lot of industries, a lot of universities. A lot of well paid jobs. We have many hospitals. Our people has medical service, yes, we know we have carencies, but everybody can go to a public hospital and receive attention. We have very good doctors, even in your country do not believe it. Our young people usually go to the highschool and college.
Who goes to the USA? Often they are the people who does not get here what they want. People from some rural áreas. But do not mistake, they are not the luckies, we are, we don't have to go to a strange country, with other culture and other values.
Many people you have there as mexicans, actually are from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras.
Even we have here a lot of illegal immigrants from those countries, working here, building houses, or stores or constructing buildings.
Take a look at Monterrey, universities, museums, highways, industry. Take a look at Chihuahua, Guadalajara, San Luis Potosí. Mexico City.
Do you know that the 2nd world biggest cement company is from here?
Have you read something about Mexican industry?

They aren't scattered over the whole country, their centralized in specific cities- much like all the wealth in that nation.
How about a Hermes. Or a DKNY? Wal-mart sells trash melted into other things. K-mart is not far behind. Who the hell eats fast food but the poor. This is not a good argument for the riches of Mexico. The problem with Mexico is the corruption. We should be fixing Mexico and not Iraq. Healthy neighbors may a strong neighborhoods. Fix Mexico than illegal immigration will be fixed.
Maybe you should have checked if indeed WE (oh yes im mexican) are soo poor as you say.. we do not have payless shoes (we dont have to pay "less" we can buy regular shoes) but yeah we have pizza hut, costco, sams, jcpenney blablabla, so u probably came here to try to savemoney on costco but yeah prices are the same and we go shopping to texas and malls and vegas all the time, its just like any other country where if you dont try hard you are poor but if you try hard you can actually earn some money... learn different languages.. etc..
We get a lot of BS from there. There not that bad off they can get away with more here like being 35 years old and having spotless credit to buy all sorts of new cars etc. Living 20 to a house and no insurance, keep a job without paying taxes, leaching off of the system in general. Get the picture.
You don't have to be very rich or even middle class to buy fast food and shop at walmart.

A few people have money to spend at brand-name stores. That exactly is the problem. Have you ever seen the little kids that are at the border selling gum at a mall shopping?
There are a lot of very rich people in Mexico who shop in the finest stores like Chanel or Louis Vuitton.. The 2nd richest man in the world is from Mexico. Unfortunately the rich don't share their wealth with the poor there.
this is a good question. To me, being poor is just an excuse to come to the usa. They illegals are coming here to take advantage of our system and mooch off our social programs. The majority of the people here are criminals and poor people. But what do they do? They take the money they make here and send it back to mexico and this is how all of the stores you talk about stay afloat. So when you actually think about it, the illegals come here, don't pay taxes, take advantage of our social program, fill our prisons, and then don't spend the money they make in our economy here, but send it to mexico!! go figure

why, because you are very ignorant, pick up some books. Most parts of Mexico are not even poor at all. Look at Mexico City, there are several Malls, Mansions, where the rich live, you need to learn something instead of asking these questions. and what does this have to do with immigration. you think that because you are talking about Mexico that it is all about illegal immigration. get a life, stop worrying too much about this issue of immigration because the bill will pass and there won't be 12 million "illegals" in your face.
