Contact Social Security Administration! you can go to Irs.gov, download form 3949A, fill it out, make a copy and send it back for a REWArd of 10% of what they find wrong!

Grab somebody's pocketbook. When the Soviet Army occupied Gansu Provincein China, and waylaid travelers going to Western China on the train, they got thousands of IDs of Germans, French, American, and every type of traveler and "distributed" them.
It says on your card not to carry it with you. You ought to keep it at home where people rooting thru your possesions can not get it.
I don't know exactly how identity fraud works. I know it's not difficult to access databases that contain credit information. I strongly believe that it is a combination of fake and real IDs.
Some companies discard customer information in the garbage without shredding it first.
Anchor children working for businesses that require SSNs for credit reports.
A friend of mine had listed her resume on a job website recently. A woman with a Spanish accent, and hispanic surname called her representing an employment agency in Las Vegas that she never heard of, to conduct a quick interview. When my friend refused to give out her SSN over the phone, the woman abruptly hung up on her.

Illegals make up numbers. They steal purses/wallets, etc.
They mostly make them up and if one is real it is just happenstance however, Americans usually are the ones that actually steal people's ID and sell it to others that then place them on fake cards with a different name which technically does not affect the person nor is it considered ID theft since the name isn't used just the # however, a black American woman was just arrested and she was stealing people's Identities that was coming into a clinic that she worked at and then selling it to other Americans to use as a way to obtain illegal credit instead of selling it to immigrants it was for other purposes. IN fact id theft for the purpose of employment is less than 9% of all ID theft.
Oh and the IRS doesn't use that social to report those taxes they use what is called an ITIN number or a tax ID is given to the person without a SS#
The SS Dept and IRS know about it but both want their taxes, I guess. There is a lot of resistance to a bill in Congress right now that would merely require the SS Dept tp inform a person if his SS# is being used - although that person is the one being damaged!
It is insane.
Probably the same way other CRIMINALS steal people's i.d.'s!!
I know someone who had that happen to them, and the IRS came after this person wanting HIM to pay the back taxes owed by the ILLEGAL who had stolen his i.d.!!
I've also read where these criminals (and ALL illegals are criminals) have even stolen social security numbers from small children and babies! When these kids get old enough to work,can you IMAGINE the hassle they are going to have, just trying to prove that they have never worked before?
Oh, but wait.....i thought this was a VICTIMLESS crime!! Yeah, RIGHT!!
