And don't forget about the rise in unemployment, since if the illegals became legal, they would be required by law to be paid minimum wage. Don't they get hired because they get paid less than legal people in this nation??
It's a dead issue now anyway. Bush turned the whole thing upside down with his positively STUPID assertion that the US CANNOT secure its borders until it has a "Guest Worker Program". This was the biggest piece of bullshitt he has uttered since "Major combat operations have ended..."
The borders can be secured without any such idiotic program. All the Federal government has to do is to enforce the existing laws we have already and stop making dumb excuses. But will they do that? Nooooooooooooo.
Amnesty is not dead it will just go to sleep for awhile, thoughs millions of illegals are not going back to where they came unless on a vacation. Enventually they will get amnesty, and so they should but the borders and enforcement have to come first.
